What Are The Reasons For Injection Fails.

I finally got my Edex Kit, been reading the instructions over and over and a question arises. I've seen a few postings where 1st. timers end up poking the wrong spot or something didn't work right. Did you assume X marks the spot or did you carefully inspect before inject? The Edex injector can't aspirate so depth is something I'll have little control of. I'll most likely go with Trimix when I use up the Edex because it's ~ $40/shot so I'm hoping for 100% injection success.

It is a bit more difficult with the Edex kit. One reason being the one you mentioned the other main reason being the amount of rubber stopper material you have to push. That makes it hard to determine needle resistance. However, other than needle depth that's all you have to go on. The instructions in the insert are actually pretty good, so read them and pay attention to them. You should have a 1/2 inch 29 gauge needle. Insert most of it but not all of it. As described in the instructions, adjust depth in or out if you get excessive resistance or burning. Unfortunately you have to overcome the initial rubber plunger resistance to feel for injection resistance.
Good luck, I'm sure you'll get it figured out.

As for reasons for failures, I'd say it's usually shot placement. Remember to inject at 2 or 3 O'Clock or 9 or 10 O'Clock and then make sure you drive toward the center. It's easy to focus on the entry point and then fail to aim toward the center. Insufficient dose is also a common reason for failure. That's why they make Edex in 10's, 20's and 40's. Also, a certain minority of men will react poorly to the alprostadil. Chances are you'll be fine. Finally, some guys will have such a bad venous leak the action of the drug won't be able to keep up with the leak. IMHO a cock ring can enhance the effect.

Alprostadil pain is a common but not universal complaint. In most cases it moderates after the user has been on it for awhile. It also can be dose dependent. In other words don't use a stronger dose than necessary, for several reasons.

Again, good luck, and happy times.

The thing that amazes me is the $40 a shot.
You must find a less expensive alternative.

If you think $40 is bad try it without insurance.

Dear Friend,
If you are in the US you have lot less expensive and probably more effective alternatives. You can get generic Edex called aprosradil for the fraction of the price even without insurance. Trimix is even more effective and probably you’ll need lot less of it. I pay $200 for 10cc of Trimix (and problems I could get this for less then a $100 I’m just supporting my local pharmacy.) since I use only 3-4 units of it my injections cost me less than $1. Look into it. It’s a robbery.
All the best.

My Uro. was going to initially going to prescribe trimix but since my insurance only had Edex listed in their list I went with that.
The manufacturer(Endo) even has a discount program. Even with all that... On my next Uro. visit I'll go with trimix. I located a local compounding pharm. Mailorder is pretty much out of the question because of my location

Your Dr should give you a s riot. If the Alprostidal does not cause pain you can get generic from compound pharmacy much less costly. YMy 20 Ml was $85 with 10 syringes. Not bad at all.

Holy cow, where do you get 20 ml for $85? I pay almost that for 2 2-ml vials.
