Starting off the new year with Trimix and a ER visit

New to this board and new to trimix. 48 yr old male with type 2 diabetes controled with oral meds. All oral ED meds have become unreliable. Only a year ago 2.5 mg of Levitra made me like I was 25. Now hit and miss. Many more misses than hits the past few months. I wanted something more reliable. Too many disapointments lately.

Did some research on Dr. Melman and thats why I typed injections and came across Frank Talk when I did. Studied injections on this site and others for about a month before I asked my doctor for a prescription of Tri-mix. Doctor had to have me find a pharmacy because he has never prescribed this, but he had heard of it. My doctor did not require me to come in to try the first injection because I knew more about it then he did, thanks to this board. I am usually well versed in any medications before I use it. No matter what it is I do my research before I put it in my body. We went with Wedge wood Pharmacy and ordered the 10mg strength of trimix. 30-1-10 formula

After reading user experiences the day after Christmas, I tried 10 units the first time. After 15 min. No response AT ALL. Injected another 5 units on the left side. Still no response. Naked woman waiting for me in bed. after another 15 min I injected another 5 units in the right side again for a grand total of 20 units. After about 10 min of help from my wife we finally got a response. Erection lasted about 40 min or so. More than we needed. So all was good. I figure my dosage must be about 20mg.

New years morning 2am. Lets ring in the New Year the right way. Just to be conservative I inject only 18mg instead of 20mg. Dont want to end up in the ER! I have researched this to death, so I should be good. Right?! Wrong. Everything went well. Every thing came up 90% on its own within 15 min. 100% as soon as my wife walked into the bedroom. 30 min later we are all done and happy. (Married 24 years. we have been averaging sex about 60 to 75 times a year over the past few years so each session is not some marathon event.)

4am Still there. Ice and Sudafed 5 am still there more ice and another Sudafed. Fell asleep woke up 7am still there. ok thats 5 hours. Off to the ER for New Years. Happy New Year!

Present my self to the ER at 9am with a red face and my usual sense of humor. At 10am they gave me tremadol or something 10mg. 11 am still there. 1130 they start a seris of injections to bring it down. after 4 rounds not budging. So they start to extract blood and irrigate with saline. That finally worked. The Doctor invited me to be his over night guest at the hospitial for observation because of the medication used to attempt to bring everything down. It makes your heart race.

They let me go about 730am thismorning. Urologist told me I should wait about 3 weeks before I try anything else and he wants to see me in a month. He did say that he was happy to see that I took it serriously and got in there fast.

Many more details but this. But I figure this post is long enough. Sorry for any mis-spellings or typos. hate typing on a laptop.

Man what a heck of a way to start the New Year. Sorry you had the problem.

That is probably my biggest fear with injecting. So far have never had a problem.

You may have read my experience on Christmas day. I hit the 4 hour mark and was preapared to visit the ER when I was finally able to get it down after taking a Sudafed, using an ice bag, walking almost a mile on the treadmill and finally directing a very cold shower onto the affected area for as long as I could stand it. When I had my injection instruction the doc told me I could do a second injection if I got no response the first time after about 20 minutes. A couple of times I was tempted to do it, but I was afraid of exactly what happened to you. Hopefully you didn't sustain any priapism damage.

I learned about 80 percent of everything I know about this from this site. If it ever happens to you. Dont worry about going to the ER. They have seen far more embarrasing things come into the ER than a man with wood that wont go down. I was the 3rd one this week that they had in there for the same thing.
They said this is nothing compared to people comming in with an unbroken light bulb shove up their butt, a remote control shoved up there. (and it wasnt the mans wife that put it there for watching too much TV) People swallowing dominos because they liked the way it felt when they came out. Except when they didnt come out. I asked but they were not sure what the final score was when they did come out. LOL

Not sure what to do about further injections. I dont want to end up there again. The injections did not hurt. There was no pain that I hear some talk about. All though after 4 hours of wood the skin was too sensitive to see if one more round would cure things before I went to the er. I did try the cold shower that Steve had mentioned but no luck either. I guess I may have to retry in a few weeks with around 3mg.

I did notice that the this time I did have a small bit of presure pushing the plunger down that I did not exprience in any of the 3 injections that I tried in round one. Dont know if I missed 3 times the first go around or not. But I did not think my aim was off on those attempts.

From what others have said here on the fourm, usually you start with a low dose and work your way up on the next injection if you find that the initial dose was not quite enough. They have mentioned that you go up in small incraments. I had never heard of doing more that one injection in the same event. Lets see what others have to say about this.

You definately do not want to mess yourself up that you can never get an erection. I suggest that you read or search this forum for injection dose and Trimix.

I have a feeling this: "Naked woman waiting for me in bed" had something to do with the second and third injections. My thinking is I'll wait a day and increase the dosage slightly next time.

I admit the results haven't been entirely consistent with trimix for me but I have worked out roughly where I am with the medication.
I was told by sexual therapist at urology clinic to only inject once even if you get no response.
Sexual stimulation of the mental form is still a factor with the medication.
Sensitivity to trimix increases for most guys - I used the smallest dose this week since the trial period 3 months ago and for the first time had to resort to sudomyl tablets after a 3+ hour woody.

Thanks for the interesting comments about "tales from the ER department".

Hope you are not put off by this cautionary experience, be careful and methodical.

Welcome Proactive,

By joining Frank Talk you have become a member of a brotherhood of great guys who will always be here for you and who have all walked in your shoes while battling ED.
First, I would suggest you see a Urologist who specializes in the treatment of male sexual dysfunction.
He will probably run a Doppler Test to check if there is sufficient blood flow to your penis.
The two main causes of ED are insufficient blood flow (arterial insufficiency) and venous leakage.

I think that the best way for me to provide you with some info about ED is to share the story of my battle with ED.
I developed ED Post-Prostatectomy in February 2004 at age 65 and had never experienced any problem prior to that.
Viagra, Cialis, etc. did not work for me.
After much research and having the opportunity to speak with 2 men who underwent the Coloplast Titan Penile Implant Procedure, I had my Titan Implant Procedure December 13, 2007.
The Titan Penile Implant completely corrected my ED and restored both my sex life and the emotional intimacy with my wife of 45 years.
I became a Coloplast Patient Educator in January 2008 in order to share my Pre-Implant and Post-Implant experiences with men still suffering from ED and its devastating side effects.
I just celebrated the Fourth Anniversary of my Titan Implant December 13th and my wife and I could not be happier with it.
The FT Group has a bunch of great guys who are always willing to reach out to other men suffering with ED.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or just want to talk.

I think trimix lingers in your system for a day or two.
I have been working on slowly lowering the dose by about 10% a day. I got to where .10ml worked well and my wife and I were having sex every other day.
Then I went away on a trip for two weeks. When I came back and tried .10ml I had no response at all. What a drag. Then we tried it 2 day later and it was a 3 hour erection.

I keep records of my dosage and my response and I have found that my "failures" occur when I have a week or more break in the action. The same dose is fine if I have used in the last couple days.
Anyone else have this response.

One hint on bringing it down. After sex, I drink two large glasses of water, then go to sleep. I'll wake up 2-3 hours later, usually still hard.
But when I take a piss, there is something in the action of releasing my bladder that releases the blood flow out of my penis. The erection usually goes down soon afterwards.
Now the only problem is how to take a piss with a rock hard erection. I have managed to master that by kneeling down by the toilet, and leaning to the side and pissing sideways. It works.

Just an update. Things are still working after the trip to the ER does not appear to be any long term damage. Ironicly it seems to be working much better on its own now than it has in months. Maybe I scared my friend into what things could be like if he didnt pick it up on his own. Own my own isnt much better than it was before, but he is rising to the occasion with my wife with only a litte oral meds, even when they were taken 8 hours ahead of time just incase. Not sure what to think now, but I know that the Trimix can be like rocket fuel.
Hopefully things will continue now with oral meds like they were working before. They had stopped working reliably for almost 4 months before I tried the tri-mix. My ED is diabetes related, not from surgery. I have added androgel a few days a week. I dont use it on weekends because I am much more likely to be in physical contact with my wife then and I dont want to risk her comming in contact with it.
My TScore was 300 before I started the Androgel. I go back in a few weeks to see if the Androgel has brought it up any. Dont know if that is having any effect on the ED. I cant tell a difference in any other way though from using it, so I dont know if that is helping the ED or not.
