Thanks to you all who have talked to me about injections. Had I not found this site, then the meeting today with my uro would not have been so meaningful.
Got prostate checked, it was just dandy, been a year since I was there. By the way, I'm 67, had ED for over 10 years in varying degrees.

The uro doc, said he wants me to come back next Wed, he will be set and ready to teach the shot procedure, and monitor the aftermath for as long as it takes. Today was "talk" day as it turned out, a bit dissappointing, but I do think the guy will help me make the grade. He will use Alprostadil. I wanted Tri-Mix, but he held firm and said we would start with the other first, work up if necessarry. So, I still have a wait of 1 week, but hell I've been waiting all my life for something. I'll be back later with results of Feb 1.

6gun,

Glad to hear you are making progress, even if it is not toward the Holy Grail Trimix way.

I suppose your best approach to alprostadil shots ( either because they might be wicked expensive or give you a lot of ache) is to simply tell your uro that they are too painful.

Then get him to switch to Trimix. Also as I mentioned in another post, you could even show him the Amer Pharm Solutions fax form to make it as easy as possible for him to prescribe Trimix shots for you. ( I have no financial incentive for promoting them except have used them many times and they are CHEAP).

good luck at the next session.

J

Interesting that some uros appear to favour (or are actively "promoting") Caverject (Alprostadil) with the high incidence of pain AND the high cost relative to bimix and trimix. My uro has a Caverject promo on his shelf but says he doesn't prescribe it any more. He didn't go into it but the nurse mentioned the pain many men experience with it.

Give it a go and see how you respond but don't be put off injecting if you get a deep pain (not the slight sting of the needle going in). Good luck on Feb 1.

Muz, i am one of those guys that gets no pain from the Caverject. The Dr. like it because there seems to be less of a problem of the ER run for the 4 hr erections.

You can get the generic from the compound pharmacy much cheeper.
