After RP surgery I asked to be supplied with trimix so I could begin using “the unit” again. I was initially given a weak solution which and which I was suggested I start with 5 units. I did that with no effect. I then increased the volume by 5 units until I reached 30 units. No real effect. Went back to the Dr. and asked for a higher does. Was given a new script of 20-2-30, in this order, pge, phentolamine and paparvarine. Now up to 30 units again with results being about 60% erect for about 1 hour. I would really like to get to only injecting about 5 units since that is easier and less expensive. The larger amounts feel like you are squeezing a lot into that sucker! So what would you suggest I ask the Dr. to provide on the next request for formulation?

It has been my experience, at least with PGE-1, that with larger doses it is substantially less painful to inject the larger dose in a larger volume of saline or bacteriostatic water than in minimal water. I use mono-mix which is just 80mcg per ml of PGE-1 making a 1ml vial. I work around this issue by injecting very slowly.

You are correct it is generally cheaper to buy more concentrated mixes and use less.

I started with 150/5/50 and 5-6 units works for 3-4 hours virtually guaranteed. IMO you really need a much stronger script. Not only will it hurt less to inject less, but will be much cheaper as your going to need a lot less.

New script is 50-2-30, with PGE being the first. This is the third script and I think the Dr. is being cautious, but shoot, one would think after "shooting up" 10 or more times on ever increasing doses one would have a better idea of that the correct amount should be. At any rate I will try the new mixture in a day or so and see how it goes. As mentioned above the last injection of 30-2-20 was only good for about 60% of where I should be and I injected 35 units, so I don't think the new mixture with trying 5 units to start is going to be enough. We will see.

When I have gotten to the end of a vial and was injecting 35u or more My Urologist jumped up a couple strengths for the next script. That way I got the results I needed.

There is no issue with the injected volume of fluid that is 30, 60, or even 100units. 100 units is just 1ml. You need your cock to fill with volume anyway.

I have found that a cockring (not a constriction ring used with a VED pump) can help me have a firmer erection with less trimix. It doesn’t need to be uncomfortably tight. It just helps slow a bit of the outflow of blood out of your penis. So if you haven’t already, get a few varieties of cock rings and try them in conjunction with your trimix. I find it helps.

What’s the difference between a cock ring and a constriction ring? I’m still new to this and trying to figure out the same stuff myself.

I use one as well, a construction ring doesn't expand much compared to a cock ring allows a little stretch to it.

Having done both trimix and straight pge i found if straight pge i need 23 mcg injected with trimix the amount of pge drops to 17 and the other two add 10 more so its the pge that is running the show

Non official answer based on my own experiences and assumptions to follow:

In some cases, In many respects, they are the same or nearly the same. However, I think I'll designate the 2 major categories as either "Medical Grade Constriction Rings" or "Novelty (sex shop) Cock Rings". I think, you could call all medical grade constriction rings cock rings if you wanted. However, you can't describe all novelty cock rings as constriction rings.

I think all medical grade rings are made out of medical grade silicone. They are worn at the base of the dick in front of the boys and generally provide strong constriction. With novelty rings the sky is the limit as far as construction materials, with some claiming to be made from medical grade silicone. They are worn in many different ways. Constriction strength varies greatly I generally wear one around my dick behind the boys.

In many cases novelty cock rings do serve as constriction rings to varying degrees, some very effectively. On the other hand many novelty rings are not designed to provide any usable constriction and are intended to serve myriad other purposes. Some are just intended for comic relief. Other are intended to provide enhanced stimulation to the wearer, the partner or both. A few attempt to replicate true medical grade constriction rings, some, IMHO, do it pretty well and I've used some for that purpose with my VED.

However, other novelty rings are designed to provide some advantages of actual constriction but to a lesser degree than medical rings, while providing some erection support or enhancement but not totally stopping blood flow and triggering the general 20 minute wear time limit of medical rings as used with a VED. This last category novelty rings is, I believe, the category we are usually interested here. I'm not knocking other novelty rings for your or your partners bedroom entertainment or stimulation but that's another topic.

So, we're (I'm) talking about novelty cock rings that help supplement or enhance an erection that needs help, in my case used in conjunction with injections. I use silicone rings, claimed to be medical grade, that provide some constriction but not enough, in my case, to work alone ant that don't totally restrict blood flow triggering a time limit for wear. Other users use rings or straps made out of other material that's intended to provide a similar effect.

I guess an important point is that many if not most novelty rings are a waste of money if purchased in a serious attempt to aid a weak erection or enhance other erection aids such as pills or injections. If you go down this road, a road I'm a firm (note pun) believer in, expect to waste some money on novelty rings until you find what works for you. You can save the duds up and use them as tree ornaments or whatever.

I don't think I answered your question clearly. Just remember, with the novelty rings there are no medical claims made. In fact, the manufacturers usually state for "novelty use only" or words to that effect. So when you strap it on your dick you're on your own.

PS: I just noticed that a Site Supporter is marketing a loop (medical grade?) designed for enhancement as an alternative to the novelty rings. I haven't used the product. I do have loops of at least similar design in my dud cock ring drawer but it may be just the ticket for you.
