Trimix Gel Doctors

Postby brickman » Sat Mar 24, 2012 7:40 pm

Does anyone know a doctor(s) who prescribes Trimix gel? I am looking for someone in DC, VA, MD, NY or PA.

Brick,

Most doctors and ED PA's that work for them have never heard of Trimix Gel. You best bet, instead of asking if they prescribe it (over the phone when you call) is to simply get an appointment to discuss ED options .... injections, or other and then when you get there discuss your preference to try out the gel (maybe get trimix for injection too while you are at it -- on the same sheet). Be sure to have the form all printed and ready to be filled in and FAXed. Most docs are interested to see if it works and it is simple to comply with your wishes so they should have no qualms about giving you the prescription.

Hopefully that will work.

What I did was download and print all the data from the Trimix-Gel website, and showed it to my primary care doc. he reviewed it and wrote a rx and faxed it for me. I just recieved the medication today and after discussions with my wife, will try it this weekend.
If you have a doc that you know pretty well, he/she shouldn't have a problem writing the rx for you and faxing it. The compounding pharmacy will also accept a mailed rx to them, if you call first and let them know.
The pharmacy on the website has merged with another compounding pharmacy in Florida who have taken over responsibility for filling the Rx. They are very nice to deal with and will help in any way. I spoke to them last Wednesday (after the Rx finally got to them from APS) and the meds arrived today, so once they actually have the Rx they will get it to you immediately.
One note, there are three levels of dosing. My doc decided to start me on the lowest concentration to try and make sure there isn't any serious side effect. We discussed this at great length and it was also my request to start with the lowest dosage.

I've had a trimix gel prescrition, but didn't do well with the applicator which is supposed to squirt the mixture up the urethra. It would just squirt out to the side, or wouldn't go in far enough and would come right back out. Has anyone tried the transurethral trimix mentioned on this site? The short catheter would deliver the mix to the right place. (????) Philip
