How long can Trimix be kept unrefrigerated?

I wouldn't chance it at all. My pharmacist always stresses to keep it cold. When I travel, I put it in a travel bag with a frozen ice pack. That will keep it cold for 24 hours or more. Then refreeze the ice pack every night at the hotel or whatever.

I will second what Gregg says. I try to keep it cool always, including returning it to the refrigerator or the cold pack after loading the needle. The two issues are spoiling, and effecacy. The blue cold packs for diabetic vials work great. If you preload with .5 or less, the loaded needle will just fit into those blue cold packs where the two vials would go. Those packs work well for about 8 hours. You can pack the whole deal with a frozen cold pack and if done right get your 24 hours.

Could you post a link to the blue cold packs you mentioned? Your description made it sound like something cylindrical which I have not seen

I always travel with a small insulated "ice chest" thing that holds maybe 2-3 bottles of water and a cold pack. The trimix doesn't take up hardly any room so I just throw it in. Sometimes I even pre-load a couple of syringes so I don't have to take the whole vial and all that. Also, I use "Polar Pack" brand of ice packs. They are used to keep insulin and other temperature sensitive meds cool during shipping. We do mail order meds so I have tons of them.

ITs very important to keep your trimix cold as much as you can or it will shorten its life span. I have found by keeping my bimix cold all the time it will work long past the 90 day exp time.

There is no need to go all sub-zero on it and it won't spoil quickly. This is not raw hamburg we are talking about here.

It is sterile in the vial, still sterile in the syringe (plus the bacteriastatic water used has alcohol in it too).

I've had syringes wrapped in a cool gel pack that I ended up not using overnite, forgot about it and had to put it back in fridge after work, And used that night. No problems.

If it is still clear, you might as well use it. If you don't want a bulky cold pack (on a date ) a few hours in a coat pocket will be fine.

For a trip to a date. E.g. go out to dinner, then get to her place, 1 more hour of seduction before having fun I use a FRIO mini wallet. A 3" by 4" black wallet that contains a gel that keep things cold, not like the fridge but cool even if it is inside your back pocket.

It works every time. I have a 2ml vial, alcohol swabs, a 0.33 cc syringe and the cooling material all packed inside this wallet in my back pocket.
