Just wondering if anyone else has this problem, if i inject on the left side, i get a response in about 2-3 min, (two attempts), on the right side i am 0 for two. I am looking for any possible reasons or is it just dumb luck? I am 100% successful on the left, the doc said to alternate, any advice, it sure would be appreciated
thanks in advance
Rick

You need to alternate sides or your penis could become curved. Maybe on the right you having trouble injecting ino the erectile tissue at a right angle. Are you left handed? personally i inject better on the right because Im right handed but still get a good injection on left. Try to inject nearer the base about 1" Maybe you injecting too high on the right side. Also try to ariuse a little so the flaccid penis is a little larger.

What size needle are you using. I have missed the target several times using a 5/16" needle and so far have been perfect with a 1/2 inch needle.

My uro told me that the size of the needle (1/2 95 5/16) depends on how thick the flaccid penis is. If the needle is too long you could inject uretha. He did say for most men 1/2" is best

I'm using a 1/2 inch needle, I seem to have more trouble missing the veins on the right side, I am right handed.
Thanks for the replies guys

rcole,
I have had the same experience. Erections seem to be easier and quicker when I inject on the left side. And I am right handed. As far as I can tell, there is no differenc in technique. Who knows? I plan to ask the uro when I go for my next checkup.

I have been injecting alprostadil now for about three years and I hardly ever inject on the left side. It seems that I can't get a good hit in the left side without bleeding or getting a bad bruse. There are just to many veins on that side. I talked to my uro about the alternate side thing and he said that as long as I don't inject more then once a week it isn't necessary. He checks my penis every other time I see him(I go every six months for a PSA) and he said everything is fine. My erections are as strieght as thay ever were and he says there is no scaring at all.

I inject twice a week. I try to alternate but don't all the time. I found that the key to getting a good injetion and avoiding veins is to get aroused a little before. That way the flaccid penis is larger and you can see the area to inject easier and avoid veins. of course if you one of these guys who is blessed with a thick flaccid penis you dont have to do this. I'm not. LOL also laying the penis on its side on your leg helps too. Remeber to inject at 2 or 10 Oclock

My Uro advised me to grasp just below the glans with my middle and index finger. Then place my thumb under the shaft and push up. This stretches the skin and better reveals the veins.
