Get a new doctor! My urologist charged me about US$170 for an ED exam and a Trimix prescription several years ago. Every year the nurse-practitioner renews the prescription after an office or Internet interview; this costs me about US$50. My compounding pharmacy charges US$135 for 6-8 weeks worth of Trimix.
There is some pain with Trimix use, but my urologist gave me a prescription for sildenafil (generic Viagra) and said "Take 100mg and about half the Trimix you would otherwise need, 30-60 minutes before sex." This combination minimizes the pain. Sildenafil is cheap: US$4 for 100mg.
I think sildenafil is safer than Cialis to use with Trimix, since it is not an "all day" drug, thus you are less likely to get priapism when titrating Trimix up to the dose you need.

Hi Martin, a question about your pricing. They sound unreal (as in really inexpensive). I notice your age, are your prices not Medicare scale pricing? In Cali where I am, the workup by a local Uro and whatnot was over $1000. I ended up going to Olympia Pharmacy and got Telemed, trimix with one year of refills, and antidote for around $300 and change.
Not critical of your age, in 10 months I'll be on Medicare as well. I look forward to the various aspects of greatly lessened pricing overall.

Hi solvingadream: I don't know a lot about buying medical services, having been lucky to not need many, but I know that first doctor visits cost more than subsequent visits, however $1000 would be excessive here in St. Louis. I am on Medicare, but it doesn't pay for Trimix or sildenafil. I pay directly for both of those at a compounding pharmacy here in town. Medicare did help with my urologist's consultation for Trimix several years ago, but I was an established patient. I'm sorry I can't remember what the Medicare charge breakout was for that, and I see that I've discarded the paperwork.
Looks like you got a good deal with Olympia, and I notice that they're mentioned by a lot of FT guys. Here in St. Louis, there are five or six new ED clinics which just popped up this year, due to the baby boom demographic bulge, I'm sure. I don't know what they charge, but I imagine the heavy competition must be pushing prices down. Additionally, I've heard many ED clinics advertising on out-of-state radio stations this year, so I'm guessing price competition is taking place around the country.
Looks like your heart's had some major maintenance! Don't delay one day in getting on Medicare! (PM me if you get stuck in the many Medicare choices. I spent some weeks studying them before turning 65.)

Martin,
I'm also in St. Louis, on Medicare, local urologist and have a fairly new implant. Feel free to reach out if I can be of any help. I'd be glad to .
