Questions Regarding My Appointment with Urologist

I was on this forum about 10 years ago regarding my ED, It was suggested then to check out injections.
At the time I decided to stick with viagra, which has more or less helped. Unfortunately the past several years the erections have had a consistent D rating. Although I'm able to have sex, because of the weak erections its been the same position. And my wife is quite frankly boarded and only wants sex once a month.

In September I called my doctor about getting a referral for urologist to hopefully prescribe injections. Dr Brock the urologist apparently has 6 month waiting list.
I have a phone consultation later this month with Dr Brock.

My question is, what questions or concerns should I ask the urologist?

Welcome back. I used Viagra for many years until its effectiveness slowly waned. My urologist suggested adding Trimix injections, and this has been working fine for four years. I take 100mg sildenafil (generic Viagra) with 35-45 units Trimix; the sildenafil reduces the amount of Trimix I would otherwise need, and its side effects.

If your doc is backed up, maybe he could give you a Trimix+sildenafil prescription on the phone, and his nurse could show you how to inject, in the office. Injections are tricky, but there are many good directions here in this topic.

I would suggest insisting on an in office demonstration injection but it sounds like that's not going to be an option with a telemed visit. I would ask about trying alprostadil mono-mix to see if you can tolerate it well and if the single drug therapy is effective enough for you. Otherwise, just read up on as many of the old injection threads as you can stand.

That's a long wait to see a doc, but these days that is about normal.
After giving doc your history the first question I'd ask is will Trimix injections cause side effects on any of my medical conditions or prescriptions I'm on. Of course, like mentioned you could get a prescription online, but then you'd be on your own to learn how to inject. Most first time injections are done at the doctors office in case of any problems.
Hope you figure something out.

I went thru a few uros to find the right fellow that was TRULY interested in my questions, and provided the results I needed. Write out any and all questions, tell your history and story. Maybe take your mrs along. There is several mentors on this site that helped me tremendously, read as much as you can, ask questions.

In Sept I had a phone consult with my family doctor, I realized then how upsetting ED issues have been for my wife and I.
I'm not sure what to expect with the phone consultation with the urologist Dr Brock, I'm assuming its screening to determine steps to take.

Ten years ago I went to a men's clinic for ED which cost me $700, I asked a number of questions and the only thing I got out of it was a prescription for Levitra. None of my questions were answered.
During the past ten years, I spoke with my family doctor several times about ED, He prescribed Viagra, which I was already using. And three years ago he prescribed Paroxetine for help with PE. The Paroxetine has helped with PE, but I'm pretty sure it also contributes to ED.

I have so many questions.
1. First given my age, and health will Penile Injections be a good fit?
2. I've used a cock ring for probably 20 years, which I wonder if I have Venous leakage, and if so how will that affect Penile Injections.
3. Interestingly I still wake up once a week or so with a 100% hard on. It goes away fairly quickly. But I wonder what's that all about? Why cant it be that hard with viagra/cock ring combo and normal sex?
4. Then there's my wife who doesnt really understand my ED, and wonders why I'm not like other guys she's been with. I wonder if Penile Injections will help or has my issues with ED/PE been too damaging for her to want sex more than once a month. Unfortunately our sex talk has disintegrated to each saying we dont know what to do fix it.

sogwap- Your story sounds very much like mine. Started with Viagra until it failed. Ended up at a men's clinic where they prescribed Trimix, used that for a good 3 years with good success. My issue was having to hop out of bed to go inject. When injections began to fail a cock ring helped some.
ED is something many females don't understand, unfortunately. If she is willing have her look at WebMD for information on the subject. My wife told me she learned a lot there. I didn't know she had been doing research until she told me after my implant surgery.

I occasionally see posters say it is such a mood killer to have to jump out of bed to inject. I have been injecting for a little over a year now, I am 77 and the wife is 75, and we are both retired. We both prefer morning sex, we have more energy and are not tired like doing it at bedtime. I simply inject before breakfast and by the end of breakfast I am fully hard, we brush our teeth and jump back in bed, it is delightful. I mentioned this above-mentioned complaint to my wife and she said, "Why would they do it that way?" It doesn't matter what time of day you do it, just inject 15 minutes or so before you want to fuck, jump into bed and let the foreplay begin. I agree, jumping out of bed to inject would be a mood buster!

Hi Sogwap, in looking at your older posts, it looks like you moved from the U.S. to Canada about 11 years ago? Are you still up there? I'm not sure if trimix is available in Canada. You may be limited to using alprostadil mono-mix, which can work outstandingly. I was going to suggest that if you were in the U.S. you could get more immediate results via telemed and a supplier like Olympia Pharmacy out of Florida. That's what I did. At any rate, you have been suffering from this issue for a very long time, IMO injectables have the potential to get things going again. I have been injecting trimix for 10 months, over 100 times, and it works super fantastically! Time to get cracking!
