Trazodone side effects

Currently a 6 month Tri-mix user. First 3-4 months the injections worked fantastically-rockhard for 3+ hours. Couple months back my doctor put me on trazodone for sleep issues. Prior to that was using ambien. Since the switch, i feel my libido has gone down but more importantly I'm not able to hold an erection for more than 20 minutes at a 30 unit dose like 20 units before. Injection technique is the same as before. Is the atagonism between tri-mix (24-9-9) and the trazodone a known fact or is this just me with this problem? Giving up the traz would be hard 'cause I can sleep like a college kid now. Advise and similar experiences from the group will be helpful. Thanks in advance.

The VA put me on Trazodone, it's one of their favorite drugs to prescribe, it's also one
of the worst drugs they prescribe. It caused all kinds of issues with me and sexual performance
was certainly one of them. I would talk to your Doc and ask him to give you something else
for sleep. There are many drugs available for sleep, trazodone is as very old drug, been around
for a very long time. Just my opinion

I've had doctors try to switch me to trazadone twice. For me it takes too long to work. I don't want to take it every day. If I do take enough to help with sleep it leaves me feeling goofy the next day. No trazadone for me.

Assuming you have sex in evening, what if you: Do the Trimix injection, have sex with your partner. Then take the Trazodone.

Seems that there were issues of erection and staying power no matter when sex was initiated. I'll do more checking on the half-life of trazodone in the blood system or if there is/was an accumulative effect of taking T every day/evening. Apparently no easy answers.

Cevy is exactly right - I had his experience. Also got bldolnk's side effects. For better sleep I break a 1mg melatonin tablet into 4 parts, then put a piece under my tongue an hour before bedtime, then another 1/4 mg when I wake at usually 2 am, another 1/4 mg when I wake at maybe 4 am, etc. I don't have to get up and get a glass of water getting absorption through mouth tissue. More than 1mg/night will overload the melatonin receptors and cause it to be ineffective on subsequent nights. For some strange reason, melatonin is sold in enormous doses that work for a night or two and then fail, but 1 mg tablets are available at Walgreens. I have to be patient because it takes a half-hour, sometimes an hour, to work each time, so time in bed adds up. Fortunately we're both retired and my wife needs 9 hours/night.

Melatonin works subtly, so sometimes it doesn't put me out again, and I use the short-term sedative Sonata, if I have to be fresh and alert for something the next day. This works faster and lasts about 4 hours.

I have had sleeping problems and nerve issues. My Dr. put me on Neuronton or Gabapentin and it works great and I'm not aware of any side effects. The nerve issues were caused by a drug for Bi-Polar or PTSD and caused palsy like shaking in my feet and hands even after stoping it's use. Great stuff, I should have read the warnings closer.

Some ancient history. . . .

In the pre-Viagra days of the late 20th Century, trazodone was often prescribed as an ED treatment because for some men it produced an erection as a side effect. My family doc had me on it for about 10 years.

It was at best modestly effective. I gave it up after the blue pill arrived.

I considered trying this medication for ED but I read it has a high level of priapism and passed. It is supposed to be very effective for ED.
