Unexpected Experiment

I made a mistake and left an almost empty Tri-Mix bottle from last November in the car for a week or two. The temperatures were in the mid to high 80’s during this time (much higher in the hot car).

I decided to give my next injection from this bottle while it was still warm straight from the car. I gave myself the usual 5-6 units and actually got a good 60 minute 90% erection. This was about 75% as effective for me when compared to a new, refrigerated bottle that will give me a 100% erection for 60 to 90 minutes. I was surprised it worked at all!

Lesson learned is if you screw up, don’t just throw it away. It may still work, even after being 8 months old, open for 8 months and stored out of the refrigerator for a couple of weeks.

IMHO that was very risky. I'm sure the alprostadil was no longer effective as it needs refrigeration. The other two ingredients do not. I'd be much more worried about injecting bacteria into my dick that grew in the vial while in the hot car.

Yeah you may have just turned your trimix into bimix. But as the other responder said, sounds risky for other reasons.

i'm sure at some point someone thought it would be risky to put a needle in their penis or worse insert tubes of plastic inside of their penis, yet here we all are doing exactly that. :o

I think the biggest concern is sterility. In this study Alprostadil only degraded about 8% at room temperature at 5 days. Other studies at 37 C showed 75-95 % degradation by 14 days depending on the original pH of the solution. At temperatures higher than that, more degradation will occur.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23924676/
Abstract

A three-drug injection mixture of alprostadil 12.5 microgram/mL, papaverine hydrochloride 4.5 mg/mL and phentolamine mesylate 0.125 mg/mL in bacteriostatic 0.9% sodium chloride injection was evaluated for stability at 23 deg C, 4 deg C, -20 deg C and -70 deg C. The injection remained clear and colorless in all samples throughout the study. Chemical stability testing was performed using stability-indicating high-performance liquid chromatographic analysis. Alprostadil was the least stable of the drug components at room temperature and under refrigeration. About 8% alprostadil loss occurred in five days at room temperature; under refrigeration losses of about 6% and 11% occurred after 1 and 2 months, respectively. Frozen at -20 deg C and -70 deg C, less than 5% loss of any of the drug componenets occurred in 6 months. A beyond-use date of 6 months when stored frozen at -20 deg C and 1 month when stored refrigerated at 4 deg C is appropriate for batches of the injection that have passed sterility testing. Room temperature exposure should be limited, and the vial should be returned to refrigeration as soon as possible.

No issues from using that bottle just the one time since it was left out. That bottle has been tossed.
