Hey guys,
I am just curious how Long Does Trimix Last Frozen? The pharmacy and urologist says theee months but they also said they are required to say that by law. I am going to buy some vials today and it’s $80 for one and $20 for each additional vial so I am curious how many I should buy without worrying about the medication not working?
Thank you!

I use monomix alprostadil (PGE1). It's the most fragile ingredient of trimix. It's shelf life is very short when just refrigerated. The vials says 3 days if refrigerated. The vials say discard after 45 days if frozen.
I generally get 10ml in ten 1ml vials. I had a script that was about to expire that had 3 refills on it. I filled all at once even though I still had some left from the previous script.
I now only have about three 1ml vials left out of the 30 filled. The dispensing date was 10/23/20. The loss of strength is negligible.
I keep the 1ml vial I'm using in the front of the freezer where it's usually not hard frozen. The rest stay in the back of the freezer where they stay hard frozen. I'm not suggesting that you should use meds as old as that. I suspect some bacteria can grow even when hard frozen in bacteriostatic water. I'm just sharing my experience. Ask your pharmacist.

Not sure exactly but I've froze it for 4 months before and it worked fine.

I started in feb of 2022 and I’m still on vial 2 of 4 that are all frozen until it’s time for use.

Where can I get this great deal? Please send the name of the compounding pharmacy. What size are the vials?

Even though I have been implanted, I still remember the days of injections:).
I decided, since the vials were coming every month, I decided to freeze them, some for over 2 years.
The only thing you have to look out for is when you defrost them, MAKE SURE THE SOLUTION IS STILL CLEAR!!! Nothing floating, no crystals....just clear solution. Once defrosted, put in fridge only for 2 months (but my dosage kept going up, so some of the vials did not last a month, lol).
Out of the 10 or 12 I froze, 1 had crystals in it. I let is sit for a couple hours, but there were crystals in it, I threw it out.
So yeah, you can freeze them.

How about unfrozen, kept in refrigerator. I’m on my first Trimix vial. I’m maybe 60 % done with vial. It seems like my past two times that the results have been poor. I’ve been at 30 units. If it’s let’s effective, maybe I should increase dose. I have ordered my second vial. What do you guys think.

How potent trimix will stay just refrigerated depends on how much of the potency is dependent on the alprostadil component. The alprostadil degrades fairly quickly if not frozen. However if the alprostadil is just a tiny component of the mix it's degradation won't be very obvious.

Oh...side note, I had Bimix (minus the alprostadil). At the lowest dose, Trimix was too much. Dr. had me go to Bimix.
For refrigeration, 2/3 months.

I have noticed a fall off in potency at about the 1 year mark, keeping the vial frozen. However, I have read that thawing the vial to refill syringes and then refreezing it can effect the potency, but I don't think by much. In my experience freezing Trimix you should be fine for at least 6 months, if not longer to 9 months. As long as the Trimix is not cloudy or contain particles, it should be good to go.
