In my mid 50's, and have had ED for well over a decade with performance anxiety being a major component. To address the ED, I take Vardenafil (Viagra and Cialis don't elicit a response) and just recently started with Trimix with a base dosage of 15 units.
With my wife, both the Vardenafil and Trimix works fine, to the point that I could titrate down a little on the Trimix.
Here is where the question really begins. My wife and I are both in the lifestyle (swinging). When I use Vardenafil, I run into the mental block/performance anxiety and it doesn't work. So I thought that Trimix must certainly work since it is "mechanical" and is detached from mental stimulation. However, on three
separate occasions, I have taken the injections and nothing happens (again only with another partner).
At first I chalked up the first two failed attempts as misfires. But a third failed Trimix dose last night seems to be a pattern.
Can a performance anxiety block be so strong that it suppresses even Trimix? Could it be a dosage issue, where again it works fine with my wife but isn't strong enough for lifestyle play? Or am I the most unlucky misfire-r?
I'm pulling my hair out on this and would appreciate any clarity to my dilemma, thanks!
Trimix, works but doesn't work..
Re: Trimix, works but doesn't work..
I used trimix for 16 months before I hit my implant. Had a few experiences. You’re correct in thinking that trimix should work no matter what… has nothing to do with stimulation it’s a chemical reaction to drugs in the blood. However you don’t mention how long you’ve been using trimix. I started with 8-10 units but by 3 months I had to go to 18-20 to get the same response. By 6 months I was up to 25-30 and by a year I was at 40. At this point it was time to go to a stronger mix. But at this level of mix it was causing aching for several hours after so I moved onto implant. If you’ve been using injections for a while you should have a sweet spot by now and know whether you’re having a misfire. I asked my Dr about why I was having to go up so much so often. Dr explained that your body will never get used it it rather it’s a blood flow issue as in a venous leak causing my issue. Mine was getting much worse very quickly. Some people can use inject for many years and not hardly increase at all. That would be the case if you had say a completely mental issue with little or no physical issues. With me it was definitely a physical issue and from the sound of it you might have a venous leak, and it might be gets worse. A good urologist can do a filler glow test and determine for sure or you can move onto implant. I also used PDE5 inhibitors for 10 years and they became completely non effective. I also had started to get a little scar tissue from injecting twice a week every week for 16 months. May be time to consider moving onto implant. I did and after a few months I knew it was the best decision I have made about ED in over a decade! Good luck in the future.
59 years old ED started mid 40s pills failed after 10 years. Injections works but diminishing results with pain. Implanted 5-22 Baylor,Scott, and White Dallas.Dr Michael Wierschem, infrapubic Coloplast 20cm and 1cm RTE. Going strong and loving it!
Re: Trimix, works but doesn't work..
been using trimix for over a year. i have only had to up the dose by a couple of units. 5-7 units for me in conjunction w daily cialis last me 3-4 hours. i have only had a few issues when it did not work and all of them were misfires and with that it doubled the mental block and made it not work even worse. but i have had multiple issues with it working and the evening does not progress as we would have liked it (arguments deteriorated the sex session) and the trimix still worked and i was left with a 3 hour erection that i had to deal with alone. so, in my experience it has always worked if done right. my routine is that i inject and then wait 5-20 minutes to ensure its working before going on, its not the greatest way but it works for me. not to mention, when it works, it only takes less then 5 minutes for me to know its working.
50+ yrs old. married 25+ years. hypothyroid, on TRT. 10+ years ED, viagra, cialis now 50% ineffective. now on trimix 2MG phentolamine/30MG papaverine/20MCG alprostadil
Re: Trimix, works but doesn't work..
After about one year using Trimix it started not working as well. Upped the dose, change the formula mix strength, moved into Quadmix, not much success. High doses caused an achy penis the next day.
Not sure why it isn't working for you, especially since you're taking other drugs with it. Time to see a urologist?

I think that's why people say Trimix is so unreliable and inconsistent is that it works different for everyone. Some people can use it for a life time with results and some only after a few months. I've personally been using for a year and haven't had to increase any and probally could go down in units, like someone mentioned I think it depends on whats causing your ED.

Re: Trimix, works but doesn't work..
Thanks for sharing your own experiences and for the incredibly helpful advice! I am going to titrate up a little and see if that has any effect. I'm pretty sure the formulation of trimix I am using is low dose-- because I had tried it many years ago but stopped due to the aching feeling, so when I asked to try it again from my new urologist, he said he would adjust the formula.
Re: Trimix, works but doesn't work..
I've used both Trimix and the "super" version of Trimix, adjusted to be stronger, under supervision from my uro. I've had ED a very long time, caused first by diabetes and then by PCa radiation therapy, so my results will likely not be yours.
With the original version, before the cancer radiation I had some success, for a few months. After that, however, I found that I could get hard initially but not stay hard long enough for sex. As long as I played with my own junk I stayed hard, but after starting sex it would not be hard enough. I gradually increased dosage and extended the use of the trimix for a while but eventually there didn't seem to be an amount that worked.
After 6 months or so of trying I simply gave up and lived without sex for several years. Later, after the cancer therapy, I changed urologists, hoping to get someone who could help my sex life a little more. I went to a urologist who specializes in men's sexual health. He tried the "super" version with me, and it was a similar response. For a month it seemed fine and then it seemed to start being less effective. I could get hard and would stay erect and as long as my fingers were touching my dick things seemed good, but once sex started the rigidity would lessen until I just wasn't able to function at all.
The doctor told me that the mind is still involved, even with trimix. It seems I needed the tactile feedback from my fingers letting me know I was still erect. Once I lost that, my mind would start to wonder if things were ok and then, inevitably, they wouldn't be. Performance anxiety or just frustration would set in.
So for me, at least, my mind seemed to play a part. Trimix perhaps should be totally mechanical, but it doesn't seem that way. And if it were truly just mechanical, why would men need to increase dosage and type so often?
I hope you can find what works for you, and maybe just adjusting the mix will be it.

Re: Trimix, works but doesn't work..
In my personal experience, even tho injections are purely mechanical in terms of effect, this doesn't mean that other factors such as psychological state don't play a role. If your body is working hard in the OPPOSITE direction of the drug effect, it'll be less effective (up to not working at all). It's kinda true the other way around too, but less (obviously, since you already have ED the drug has to overcome the basic issues) - if you are super horny and in good mood, you get better results.
My "golden age" of injections came after a long period of "performance anxiety" where i would have a streak of "failures" and get all nervous and depressed over "it not working". With my wife's help and support i managed to get into a mindset of "go for it, if it works it works, if not we'll try again later/tomorrow". A major part of this is to understand that it's NOT that important and indeed if it doesn't work you can always go again, there are other things to do than full-on penetration that are pleasant for everyone involved. Usually she'd suck me or masturbate me, and since she's a clitorian climaxer, she doesn't come from simple penetration anyway so i take care of her as always if my injection had failed. (Obviously, this only works with a serious partner, if you are in a "one shot" situation you are metaphorically fucked). The other major part was the "only 1 shot every 2-3 days" limitation that doctors tend to impose - While one should not over do it and inject 2-3 times a day, especially if their reaction is very strong, in reality it's FINE to do it once a day a few days in a row. Even twice a day can be done, every now and then if it so happens that the opportunity arises. You have to lay off it a few days after, just to be safe, but as long as you take care not to damage your cock with priapism you'd be fine. So, once the mentality of "oh shit, if it doesn't work tonight we have to wait 2 more days" is gone, you are even more free to have a failure and not care about it.
And "magically" things started working much better. There were always the occassional misses, but in general i'd approach it calmly and REALLY not get sad and depressed when it failed. The really part is important, cause it's in your head. If you are pretend-ok, it's not ok.
Now, years later, this is not enough. My results are way worse, not usable without 1-2 cockrings etc... but, it did last a good while and i definitely saw major improvement of the physical aspect when my mental state was better!

Have you ever injected twice in a night? If it doesnt work the first time then you shoot another one 20 minutes later? I know this isn't ideal but as a young guy with a casual gf I cant afford to miss a night of sex if I have a misfire the first time.
Venous like since I was 20 years old. Pills don't work too well. Thinking of implant in the future

Yeah, i have. Usually, a 2nd dose doesn't really work wonders. It's as if sometimes your body just won't work...
But, i guess if your success rate is higher than 50%, it's worth a shot. Just make sure to alternate injection sides.
