First experience with Trimix. Is this normal?

Postby johndoe365 » Tue Sep 05, 2023 4:10 pm

Background: 30 y/o, ED entire life, no medical conditions, and physically fit. No morning woods, no random erections. Some erection attainable masterbating. Tried the pills and VED, nothing worked. Never have had a strong enough erection for sex. Erection only attainable while laying down, lose erection completely as soon as i stand.

Fast forward to this past friday got a trimix /doppler appointment. Urologist gave me 40 units of 'super trimix' (30 pap - 1 phen -50 alp).
I had a 60% erection at best for like 5 mins, then had a 40% erection for 1.5 hours.
The entire time I had a throbbing / aching pain in my penis.. It hurt alot.
Doppler results were that I did have a moderate venous leak.
40 units of super trimix seems like a lot for a guy my age to not work. Doctor says I might have been nervous from being in a clinic and to try 40 units twice at home, then up it to 50 units, and then to 60 units if needed. (I'm losing hope, feel defeated struggling with this my whole life... I really thought I'd have a raging borner like the rest of yall in this forum.)
I will pick up my trimix tomorrow and try it out and update on results.

I have a couple questions...
1) Is this throb/aching pain normal / will it get better? (I was injected close to the base of my penis, so I'm hoping this was root cause)
2) Is trimix supposed to get me at 100% erection without a partner or any stimulation? Or does trimix only get you to 70% of the way and the rest from arousal?
3) If this super trimix doesn't work, should I just get an implant?

With only one injection in a medical setting I wouldn't jump to any conclusions. When I first started injections (Edex) my results were a bit erratic.

I had the alprostadil ache/pain. According to my latest doctor about 30% of guys get it, at least initially. I did but the ache moderated with continued use and eventually I quit getting it. I don't know what percentage of the 30% of guys that get the alprostadil ache get over it with continued use, but I did. Injection technique can also play a part. Getting some of the mix into the wrong tissue can definitely hurt. And doctors don't always get the injection right every time.

There is a fair amount of variation in results but theoretically, the proper dose of the proper mix for you should give you a good solid boner. The duration of the boner will also vary according to the mix and dose. The situation and arousal does have an effect.

That's a decision only you can make. I think it's a bit early to be making any serious decisions based on one event. You may end up going there but no need to rush. I'd go into my novelty cock ring spiel but I go there too much.

Good luck on whatever path you end up taking.

Not to rain on your parade, but wben I tried injections before moving on to the implant I had zero success with any formulation or dose. Zero, zip, nada over a peeiod of about six months. Hopefully you'll have better luck

Welcome to FrankTalk. Hopefully you’ll get all the help and support you need.

It’s just the first shot so lots to figure out. You’ll learn more in the next few shots. Keep in contact with your doc and work with them to tweak the dose (the mix, the concentration, and the volume).

In my case getting rid of the prostaglandins was necessary. Particularly as my dose increased the ache really diminished the pleasure of sex. You can see my mix/dose in my signature below.

Regarding a cockring, I bought a couple different types/styles at a nicer sex toy shop. Experiment with them, both alone, and with a partner of you have one now. I prefer a thicker silicone one. It stretches enough to still be comfortable, but is strong enough to slow the outflow of blood from my cock. Over the base of the shaft and behind my balls. Works well, feels good.

Dial in what works for you. Be open to changing it over time as needed.

Let us know what you find. That’s how we all learn from one another.
55yo, NYC. ED started at 40. 50 units BiMix + Atropine (Pap 30/Phen 6/Atr 0.2). Prostaglandins caused aching. Doses increasing. A cock ring helps. Phallosan Forte tension devise to maintain size. Eager to talk about implant experiences.

Glad you found Frank Talk. Lots of great info here.
In my opinion, 40 units is a big dose of Trimix for your first injection. Hope it goes better at home. It is strange to sit in a doctor's office with an erection. I sure hope you don't need to inject 60 units for action, that's when it really made for an ache on me.

Welcome and great questions. I had a fairly significant ache early on which I (maybe incorrectly) attributed to injecting in the wrong spot. After some time I found that even increasing the amount I was injecting was not doing the trick. I always need stimulation for it to get fully erect. It'll get longer and fatter if I just inject and do nothing but a partner playing or even my hand stimulating it worked well. I recenty got a new, stronger mix. My urologist confirmed that I was injecting in the right area and she insisted that I try the new dosage while I was in the office. It got chubby quickly and, as she instructed, I stroked myself a little to make sure I was going to get fully erect. When she came back I was very stiff so I'm appreciative that she took the time to make sure while I was there. Consult with your doc and don't stress too much!

Welcome to FrankTalk,

(1) In my case the ache did not go away and hurt like hell. Sex was far from possible let alone a JO session. I was allergic to the prostaglandins, so I switch to a Bimix (no prostaglandins). The Bimix alleviated the pain and actually seemed to make me bigger (more as I remembered it pre prostate surgery).

(2) It should get you to 99% to 100%

(3) I would not jump to implant worries until you have followed GoodWoods great suggestions.

If later things don't seem to go as anticipated, then its honestly not a bad thing to get an implant. Do your research, FT is a fantastic source, chat with us implanted guys, see some videos, find a great high-volume Dr to further discuss. You are young and have a long health sex life to explore and implant improvements are always in the works.

Thanks everyone for their feedback.
Tried it again today and it took me 1 hr to inject myself. I poked myself 4 times and pussied out.
Injections are definitely not for me. Phobia is too much. I think ill just ask for an implant next week

So, did you try it again?

If the injecting part is too much right now, consider trying an auto-injector, similar to what people with diabetes use. It removes a big part of the whole procedure, makes it very quick and possibly less painful. Mostly it's about the tress, i'd say.
40 years old, married. ED all my life because of spinal cord injury caused by a tumor in early infant age. Using standard EDEX20 since 2007. Increasingly bad results with EDEX in the last few years, but had very good results for at least 10 years.
