Needle length/size? Whats yr preference?

I started with 1/2" 30g, then switched to 5/16" 31g. I've had a few fails on one side (w 5/16 31), now i'm reading I really should be using a 1/2"length to reach the cavernosa. What are your thoughts? Preference?

I also started out with 1/2" needles and switched to 5/16". I had one miss using 1/2" and I think it might have gone too deep. I've also had one miss with 5/16", but I don't think it was about depth (hit a vein). With the 5/16" needle I stick it all the way in up to the syringe base and slightly indent the skin. If you are really big in girth, maybe 1/2" is better, but for me I like the 5/16". I also typically use a VED before injecting to plump up and have a bigger target area for injecting.

I use the 5/16". They work for me but it seems a lot of guys do better with 1/2". Use whatever works best for you.

I'm new (9 sticks so far), but here's my experience. 30ga 1/2" looked damned long when I first saw it, but has worked every time and doesn't hurt at all.
I bought 31ga 8mm syringes, but haven't tried one (why mess with success?)
They originally sent 100unit syringes. I just bought 50u & it's much easier to see the 15 unit line!

I started with 1/2 30g and would miss 25% of the time. I switched to 5/16 31g and have had 99% success. However, my penis is thin, especially when flaccid so the shorter needle is hitting the spot. As stated by others, it's all about girth.

1/2 inch works fine for me. Circumference is 6 inches.
Only one misfire in about 10 injections so far.

Everything DQQ678 says also applies to me. If scarring is a real thing, I guess the 31 gauge needles must cause less tissue damage, but my corpora do not lie at the same distance below the skin everywhere along my length, so I have to use the longer 1/2in (13mm) needles in a few places, and they only come in 30 gauge as far as I know.

I have always used 1/2-inch 30-gauge needles.
I used to fill the syringe, put the orange cap back on over the needle then go to the bathroom to inject.
I no longer put the cap back on due to potential damage to the sharp needle point.
I used to put the cap back on (after filling the syringe) and then go to the bathroom to inject. I found that I occasionally had difficulting injecting. I believe that putting the cap back on blunted the needle, potentially causing scarring.

First started with 29 gauge 1/2” needle which worked well for first 1.5 years (only can recall 1-2 misfires. However, I did not inject fully submersed with 1/2”, as I felt for the point when there is no resistance, which typically means I’m in the right spot which is about 3/4 inside.
Over last few months we switched our schedule up, so that we are now active early in morning when kids are still sleeping. By the end of day we are both often quite exhausted and having some sleep to recover was great; this also really starts the day off nicely! Of note, early morning flaccid is smaller compared to evening (likely cold and less blood flow). I know I can use VED to plump up for more target area but haven’t really done this much. That said I may start doing this in the future. Increasing target area from VED is appealing due to preventing multiple injunctions in relatively same area. I always am cautious as I want to avoid any scar tissue always alternate sides and locations from 1/3 to 2/3 on shaft and doing 2 to 3 o’clock on right and same thing for let at 9 and 10 o’clock. So far nothing noticeable regarding scar tissue. Been injecting a bit longer than 2 years with use ~2-3 days a week, with sometimes is a bit less depending on our weekly schedule.
I now use a 5/16” 31 gauge needle as that seems to put me in sweet spot after burying hub of needle. Reason for changing was due to just a couple misfires with the 1/2” that occurred in the morning, and believe I likely went too deep. That’s when I switched to the smaller needle and have had no issues since whether it be in morning or evening.
Likely all depends on an individual level. For me 5/16” hits the target without any concern of going too deep.
