Dr apt for first injection - what questions should I ask?

As I have mentioned in prior posts, ED since RP last fall. Cialis did nothing, even at full strength. I have been using VED with good success due to advice and support from this site. I have a Dr apt next week where he is supposed to introduce me to injections. Unfortunately, I have lost a little confidence with my Uro when he told that it might be a good idea to get a VED and he never gave me any instructions or warnings about using one. Thank God you for guys!
Based on the posts from this site and internet searches, I know that depending on which drug he prescribes, I will have to start at low dose and find out what works best for me (if at all). I also know about being sure to have Sudafed on hand if i have an erection over 2.5 hours and hospital visit if over 3.5 hours.
I have watched YouTube videos about the proper placement of the injection (2 & 10 o’clock) and alternating sides and be sure to get the needle in deep enough.
My wife and I went through 5 years of infertility, where i had to inject her with drugs sometimes 2 or 3 times a day, so i know about needle prep and disposal. We actually used the small diabetic type needles. ED is bad, infertility is worse. We did end up with a beautiful boy, but thats a story for another day.
Can any of you think of anything I should be sure to ask the Dr? Is there anyone that has any suggestions of what they wished they would asked or done differently preparing for their first injection?
I guess I’m just a little anxious and nervous. I know the pain will be worth the gain and I hope it works and gives me a few years before deciding on an implant. There are many on this site that have had great success with injections and I hope i do too.
Thanks
RJ

Best of luck. Ask the doc to demonstrate how to inject, try it once in the office. Getting the dose correct may take a few tries but don't give up. Also ask what if you can't get it to go down? Sudafed? Injection? Cold Bath? ER? (hopefully not)
Also storage of the mix is important to learn depending on what mix used.

Not as much pain as you think much of it is in your mind since you are poking something near and dear to you ... lol .. Due to issues with my hand and the g/f shaky hands we ended up getting an auto injector .. we got the type the pokes the needle in quickly and then you push the plunger in at your own pace .. it comes with 2 different depth rings to control how deep the needle goes. Pm me and I'll see if I can get the brand it is we got it from MenMd for about 35.00.

I would ask about the exact ratio and quantity of the three meds, ie whether you are on a strong or weak mixture which is just as important and the amount injected. I’m on 10/12/1 which is a weak mixture and I’m fine with that. I’ve titrated to 17 units which allows some deflation after I ejaculate but still enough for a round 2 if I so choose. Try not to be too nervous during the test injections. I had extreme shrinkage due to nerves which was not only embarrassing ( attractive PA) but hindered the teaching session. Good luck.

Advice? Sure.
First, relax, it really is quite easy
This is how I do it: I plump up a little bit with the VED. It creates more real estate to help find an injection point. I advance the needle slowly until it’s all the way in (5/16 needle).
I then have my wife push on the plunger, as I have a slight tremor. If there is strong resistance to the plunger, I advance a little more. The plunger should move easily.
Withdraw the needle, apply a little pressure with the alcohol swab, to stem any blood loss, and to help with the distribution of the medicine.
Avoid any obvious blood vessels when placing the needle.
It took me several months to find the right dose. Just be patient.
Good luck, but I know you won’t need it.

It sounds like you're already well equipped with info. He/she should know what to tell you, mainly they will start you out with a mixture strength based on your condition and from there have you titrate the doses, starting fairly low, until you get to the sweet spot. It's really not that difficult. But this process will take a few weeks. Ideally, they would give you a few different mixes to try out, but that doesn't seem to be a common practice.
I have full ED due to a non-nerve sparing prostatectomy. I got my prescription via telemedicine visit set up by Olympia pharmacy. They set me up with a medium strength formulation of 30-1-25* trimix and told me to start out with 5 units, increasing 5 units each time (every few days or so, but not more than twice a week). Got a little fluffy with 5 units, and a little more so each time, until I hit 20, then I was able to have penetrative sex. Have settled in with around 22-24 units... any more and it gets a little too achey. My wife is very happy, because I can go as long as she wants. This usually gives me a 1 - 1.5hr erection. It's a little longer than I'd like, but if I inject less, it's not hard enough.
Be patient and you have a great chance of getting the desired results. I'm only up to about 30 injections and have had two misses, and they were at the beginning. Now I use a VED to plump up before hand, as others have mentioned, and it's much easier to hit the right spot. Don't worry, you'll be a pro at it in no time!
* Paperverine 30mg/ml, Phentolamine 1 mg/ml, PGE 25mcg/ml

All,
Now 6 days away from my Dr apt, but who’s counting?
Definitely looking forward to it.
Thanks for the advice and support. Greatly appreciated!

I used Trimix injections for 8 years before it stopped working for me.
Make sure your uro does the first injection for you.
You should get a lower dose your first time from him, and you need to experiment with the dosage to see what works for you.
There is very little or no pain from the needle, just a bit scary sticking your cock.
Don't up the dose too much each time. trimix is very strong and a little goes a long way.

Well, today was the day for my first injection……NOT.
Dr office called late yesterday afternoon and said my Uro is ill and I’m going to have to reschedule. Ugh! If it weren’t bad luck…. They rescheduled me for March 4. I’m going to see if they can move that up, but I’ll be surprised if it happens.

Hang in there Bro. It’s definitely a process from test injections through final titration. It took about 90 days for me. The test injections were low dosage just enough for a semi. That gave the doctor enough confidence to write the script. Then the agonizing wait for the trimix to arrive. From there I slowly titrated from 7.5 units to 17.5 units which is working perfectly. On a completely unrelated note, one of the benefits I wasn’t expecting is that Trimix has fixed my tendency towards PE and it gives me huge orgasms. They feel like the type of orgasms you get from cum-in-mouth blow jobs. Huge. So I’m enjoying the hell out of this. Good luck.
