PENIS PAIN and WEAK ERECTIONS WITH INJECTIONS

Hey guys! 66 year old. In good shape, active, healthy. My prostate was removed robotically 22 months ago. I had "nerve-sparing" surgery but have been left with not even the glimmer of an erection. I have resigned myself to the fact that I will never have an erection again..... though I'm ever-hopeful and still take my daily 5mg Cialis to keep the area oxygenated...JUST IN CASE it is still helping. I am able to get a GREAT hard-on by using the Vacurect pump for re-habbing my penis, jerking off and occasionally having sex, but I am put off by the un-spontaneity of using it. I have tried Alprostadil (caverject).4ml (40 units) injections. The resulting erection is not hard enough for penetration and the pain that results from it really puts me off from wanting to continue with it. I have tried it about 6 times, always with the same results. I asked my urologist to write me a script to try TRIMIX. I was instructed to start with .3ml and work my way up .1ml-.2ml at a time till I was happy. My last injection was .6ml and resulted in a pretty good (but not great) erection that lasted about 75 minutes. But the pain, though less than with the Alprostadil, is still there. Is anyone out there experiencing this pain with TRIMIX? Have you "tweaked" the proportions to lessen the pain and get a stronger erection? My mix is: 20mcg/ml-Alprostadil (PGE) / 15 mg/ml-Papaverine / 1 mg/ml-Phentolamine. What are others using?

The test injections of pure Alprostadil produced painful erections for me. My trimix formula is 10/12/1. I had pain the first few times but it’s now free of ant discomfort. I use 17.5 units of the aforementioned mix.

Alprostadil pain when first using it is pretty common. I experienced it for at least several months to deminishing degrees. Many if not most guys that get the pain find that it deminishes and often totally goes away with continued use. Some guys never get over the alprostadil pain and can't use it. IMHO it's way too early for you to make that determination. Consider a novelty/sex shop cock ring. It can boost the effect of the injection allowing you to use less. See the "Cock Ring" thread in the "Members Only" sub-forum. Some guys, myself included, also stack Viagra or another PDE5 inhibitor with the injections. That may also boost the injection allowing the use of less injection mix. Check with your doctor first.

You can ask the doctor to increase the percentage of Papaverine and lessen the alprostadil. However, some studies indicate there may be less risk of scaring and fibrosis with alprostadil although none are risk free.

I've found that injecting the mix very slowly reduces the pain response. A partial miss into the wrong tissues can certainly cause pain.

Welcome to the forum and Good luck.

I use bimix, 26 units. Works well, and I have no pain. Trimix pain was unbearable.

Post prostatectomy I had pain with Alprostadil ( Cavaject). Moved to Trimix which gave good erections with little pain but caused Peyronies within 2 months of using. Trimix is known to do this in some people. I had an implant three years after the RP and only wish I had done it sooner. I had nerve sparing on one side but I was never able to have a natural erection again even with 150mg of viagra.
Nerves can take years to heal properly so at 21 months you still have some hope for an improvement. In the meantime keep up with the vacuum pump otherwise you risk loss of length and girth

I never heard (especially from my Dr) that Trimix can cause Peyronies. Does anyone have any stats on how often this happens, like what percentage of men that try Trimix get Peyronies?

Is it more about doing injections that can cause scar tissue or is it something to do about the Trimix drugs?

Thanks

I developed Peyronies after almost a year of using Trimix. The scarring I have is in the dorsal area. An area that you would never inject into the penis.

It does happen....the question is how much? And that doesn't seem to be easy information to find.
