Hey all. First time posting in the Injections forum -- I'm a 33 y/o straight guy who has been suffering from ED since I was 20 years old - before I even had sex for the first time.
Long story short, pills didn't do much, and today I had a penile ultrasound at my urologist's office. I'd love to hear how others on this forum reacted to their first initial doses of Trimix, because my experience was not what I was expecting at all.
I was injected with 10 units at first and told to wait about 20 minutes. I did so, and to be honest, not much happened. My penis filled with a little bit more blood but otherwise it was if I wasn't injected at all.
Doc notes this and injects me with 10 more units.
15-20 minutes later and it's roughly the same story. I'm at like a third-chub at best. Doc gives me the ultrasound and finds nothing that notable, other than that my blood flow is a bit on the lower (but not concerning) side.
He then injects me with Phenylephrine, which... also does nothing. In fact, as I'm waiting for the Phenylephrine to make my dick soft, it actually keeps getting harder and firmer to the point where I had to take my pants off again because the pain of it being constricted was too much.
For the first time in, I want to say 12-13 years, I had a completely self-sustaining erection that stood up on its own, requiring zero stimulation. At the same time, it was like the inside of my penis was being squeezed unbearably tight, and there was a very deep straining/soreness that quickly became almost unbearable.
Doc gives me a second ultrasound while I'm about twice as hard as I was during the initial one -- his findings are basically the same. Nothing stands out other than mildly weaker blood flow.
I was thrilled to see my dick just... hard, on its own, without me having to do anything. I had been waiting for this day for so so long, but when it came, it was... pretty fucking painful and extremely unpleasant! I could not WAIT for it to go down, which only happened after I was injected with another dose of Phenylephrine.
I don't know how to feel about it all. The injections themselves were painful, and despite being harder that I literally ever have been before, it came at the cost of such intense soreness that I couldn't even focus on anything besides wanting the pain to go away.
I'm curious how similar or different your guys' experience with your first dose of Trimix was like. I left my appointment feeling a lot more certain about just going for the implant, to be honest.

Re: First Trimix Injections (at doctor's)
Well, being 42 years your senior, I'm not sure if I should comment/compare my experience with yours. The body's response to any medication definitely changes as we age. That said, my first injection of Trimix at the doctors office, 10 units, caused a partial erection. It lasted maybe 10 minutes and it wasn't enough for penetrative sex. I was told to keep increasing the dosage by 5 units until I got the results I wanted/needed, up to 50 units. I kept ramping up until I got to 50 units, and for awhile at that level, I/we managed to have PIV sex. But for me, there was always a lot of soreness, especially in the glans. That soreness took a couple of days to go away. Then I graduated to Quadmix with the same results. At that point, I knew an implant was going to be my future.
Give the shots a chance though. Over time, the soreness may dissipate, especially if you haven't had any full erections for a long time. If that's the case, some of that soreness may be due to stretching of the tissue. I used a VED to help stretch things out before I did the shots, and that helped a bit.
At your age, you want to carefully consider your options. Long term use of injections can cause scar tissue formation or fibrous nodules leading potentially to a bend or Peyronie's. But, many guys use shots for many years without a problem. On the other hand, an implant is permanent, and at your age you would likely need at least a couple of revision surgeries during your lifetime. I'd give the shots a chance, and if the pain/discomfort remains high, talk it over with your doctor. Hopefully your doctor has a lot of experience in this area. All the best to you going forward in this quest.
