Sterility of Trimix

I have been using Trimix since April 2013 with great results.....despite being past the "official" expiration date, the medication continues to deliver...as I've read on this site, Trimix if properly stored can be effective as much as 1 year later...my problem is I have exhausted my supply of syringes and living in NY, you need a doctor's prescription for needles......I still have about a quarter of a vial left of Trmix that I received through my urologist...the cost was twice the price of what a script would have been at a compound pharmacy...at the time I was eager to start injections, so I bit the bullet and paid for the over priced Trimix. I contacted my urologist about obtaining a script for additional syringes, and of course he wants me to come in for an office visit. When I inquired as to whether I could get a prescription for Trimix to fill on my own and told him of the Trimix I still had on hand...he advised me not to use the remaining Trimix...questioning whether or not it's sterile....now I've always been very careful about wiping the top of the vial with an alcohol swab thoroughly....anybody here ever been told of similar concerns of the sterility of Trimix by their physicians after such use???

Hmmm ... a Uro who overcharges for your Rx... won't call in a Rx for syringes .....

Have you considered changing penis doctors ?

I have a lot of "left over" trimix too... because I only inject 3 or 4 units, and have the same situation as you.

I don't worry about Sterility.... maybe I should!!!

but as of now, I will keep using what I have, even past the expiration period

Hey Bill...thanks for your reply...I did hear back from the Doc and he's willing to give me a Trimix script if I come in for a $100 office visit.....I'll see if he gives me the syringes or a script.....The first and only time I went to him, he spends about an hour with you, etc....you're then given a little paper shopping bag with your Trimix, syringes, auto-injector and alcohol swabs...along with clear, detailed instructions... it was nice to be handed the all inclusive package, but I was definitely over charged....but like I said I was eager to start the injections and it has been well worth it.....but I often think how guys like us are easy prey for guys (Docs) like this because they know we come in desperate...or close to it....I still have success with Viagra and Cialis combined....but...not always...and that's when I go to the injections....Be well...

qc,

If I were you I would just head on-line and try ordering syringes from any old on-line site you can find and see if they care about sending them to you in NY. You might get lucky and find one that will just send em thru since it is such a stupid-ass law anyways.

And I thought MY state was a Nanny State trying to control everything -- mine has not got around to needing a prescription yet.

If you start to run short on syringes, you can always clean the needle with alchohol and reuse it one or two times more. I have reused syringes an additional three times before they started to get too dull to penetrate efficiently.

I been using trimix for 20 years, freeze it it will last for years. They will tell you not to freeze but when you pin them down that can't come up with a reason.
My uro said to freeze and I have for years believe me it will last, or freeze the needles with the trimix in them I have done that, just shake gently before using. A compound Pharmacy makes mine up locally. The needles come with the trimix.

My Trimix comes frozen and packed in dry ice from the compounding pharmacy. The inside package is marked "keep frozen until ready to use".
