Priapism Scare -- Implant Here I Come!

Can't be sure, but I may have incurred a case of priapism. Foolishly, I injected and had sex about four hours before a flight. The erection, which was about a 9 on a scale of 1-10, seemed to be going down after ejaculation, so I thought everything was good.
I was probably at about a 2 or a 3, erection-wise, after showering and heading for the airport. The flight lasted about 90 minutes, but when we landed, I went to the bathroom and I was shocked. My penis was limp, but completely swollen like a hot dog that had been cooked too long.
I never had any pain and I didn't have a full erection following the full ejaculation. Now, a week later, it is back to normal. I always thought that the sign of priapism was a fully erect, painful penis that you could not bend and was cold to the touch. I never had any of those symptoms, which is why the swelling alarmed me. The only thing I can point to is that the lady had handled my penis a little rough with her hand during foreplay.
Obviously something caused some irritation, but i am not sure what. Anyway, priapism or not, I decided I am going to start looking into an implant. For me the injections have become a hassle. The good news is that now that the swelling has gone down, I am not experiencing any problems whatsoever. Wierd.

It sounds as though you had some kind of edema reaction, perhaps from a slight allergic reaction from the medicine. I have been injecting trimix for over a year, and I have had 2 episodes of priapism, one with an erection for 7 hours, and another for 6 hours. It was hard (rock hard) for the entire duration of the priapism, and painful after the 4th hour in both cases. Yours does not sound like priapism.
It took me at least 13 attempts at first in order to get the dosage correct and the injection location correct. It WAS a significant learning curve, but now I can adjust the dose to the amount of time I want junior to stay hard. (from 1 to 3 hours, depending on the needs of the woman).
May I suggest that you keep trying the injection therapy?

Thanks Rickey.
I am going to wait a while before deciding on the implant. This is June, and I'm thinking December when I'll have a couple weeks off from work. That gives me enough time to see if the injections are really for me vs. the implant route. I am going to inject a couple times over the weekend, so we'll see what happens.
It's true that I am having problems with getting the dosage right and hitting the right injection spot. It doesn't help that I sometimes get nervous before the injection when I am on a date and I rush it. Those are all things the implant guys don't have to worry about. Seeing as how I'll be 60 next year I figure the implant makes sense, but we'll see.
Thanks for your great input.

The only problem is that the implant is open surgery with the associated risks. Most guys seem to come through it fine, but I agree with Rickey that you ought to give injections a fair shot (pun intended!) before considering the implant. I think most good urologists would say the same. There is the expense, too, if your insurance does not cover implants, and that seems to be pretty common.
I have a similar learning curve with injections. Yesterday I injected before attempting sex with my wife, got virtually no response, and ended up with a big bruise and some puffiness or swelling on the right side of my penis near the glans. Must have hit a vein or something. We never did get to have penetrative sex!
There is also the auto-injector that you could use instead of the syringe. Some men find it easier to hit the sweet spot using one of those.

I find that the easiest way to hit the spot is to pump it up first with one of those hideous penis pumps. In that manner I can hit the corpus almost every time, and seldom do I miss.
I am not well endowed and this makes hitting the corpus much much easier. I wait for the needle to all of a sudden feel like it's getting sucked into the penis once it gets through the tunica, which can be a little bit tough. However once I feel that sucking and pulling feeling I know for sure I am in there.

I think you are being too hasty in giving up on tri-mix and diving into an implant. There's definitely a learning curve to get 100% successful injections, took me a while to get it. Well worth it.
Great advice from the guys especially JimStars got me there:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1374&start=10#p9351As long as you are sensible about doses and follow your doc's advice when you need to increase, you don't need to constantly worry about priapism. Always keep some sudafed around, it is great for knocking down an erection once you get tired of it.

Yeah, I have gotten past that early scare and have successfully injected multiple times since that scary experience. I like what I am seeing from the injections now. I won't rule out an implant forever, but right now I'm willing to give injections a nice long try.

i think the tissue was over worked, and caused the swelling. i have seen that myself before. should be temporary.
