Another warning about injections and Peyronies

I and others have posted about this before, but I think it's important enough to warrant another post.

Injections can cause Peyronies disease. Even if there's no curvature, injections can cause scarring, which can result in loss of length.

This won't happen in every guy, but it can. I started injecting a year and a half ago. This past January I had a 30 degree bend, and I had lost a full 1" of length from just a couple of months prior. I've since lost more length.

I went to a Peyronies specialist in Atlanta, and he said that injections can definitely cause scar tissue and Peyronies. I had scar tissue in spots where I never even got close to injecting. I have several spots at the base on the left side, another spot on the top back close to the base, another spot on the top near the glans, and another spot on the right side in the middle of the shaft.

Last week I went to see one of the top five surgeons in the country for implants. It's gotten that bad. He said that injections definitely can cause scar tissue. He said that the pavarin in Trimix is the worst culprit, and that Caverject is a bit less likely to cause scar tissue. A little less.

I've gone from nearly 7 inches when I was younger to 6 inches before January to 5 inches now. With the implant surgery I'll likely lose a little more. I thought that the scar tissue could be removed during implant surgery and I could return to my 6 inches, but that's not the case.

Just a warning for all of you.

Don, I wonder if you could rehab it with the pump? It may be worth a try. If I lost 2", I'd have a 3" hole in my belly.

I also have been injecting for a year and a half. I use what is called trimix #1. It is the weakest compounding of the mixture.
It has a small amount of papaverine, (17.65mg), comparatively speaking. I have experienced a slight bend to the right in my penis but no scarring, and no loss of length.
Thanks for the heads up, I will monitor my penis for any obvious scarring or shortening. Thus far I am extremely happy with the trimix, as without it I am dead in the water!

Ricky11, I didn't see any signs of scarring until it was too late. You might want to feel the tunica in the penis and compare one side to another. Anything you notice that's not on the other side--no matter how small--could be a scar.

It can't be from the injections themselves, as I never injected at the base or on the top.

I'm really ticked about this. There's no way I'll ever get back to my pre-January length.

Yikes! I will observe and monitor my weenie! Thanks for your input. As I said previously, i have noticed a slight bend to the right, (when erect), but so far that's it. There's no difference in the tunica from one side to another. So far, so good. But I don't have any length to lose, as I am only a little over 5" as it is. I DO have more response in my left side, as it takes a little less to get it erect. I work it out with a pump almost every day, and that may be the difference, I don't know.
There is little research on this issue, as I have tried to google it with few results.

Don, I was thinking that maybe the scarring is sort of proportional to the amount of trimix being injected. I only inject .12 ml at one time usually. (which is a comparatively small dose).
What was the dosage that you used, how many milliliters?

just wondering about this. have either of you (or anyone reading this post) gone thru prostate removal surgery? I had robotic prostetectomy in March '15. My surgeon recommended VED daily for 1 year as fibroids can appear up thru that time after surgery.
I wonder if the peyronies is more related to post-surgery rather than injections. or maybe both?

Rickey11, I started out doing about 20 units, then 30, then 40, and I've gone as high as 60. Of course, the strength of the liquid varies, so number of units is relative.

tarheelgwb, no surgeries of any kind.

From what the doctors told me, there's all sorts of factors that come into play. Some guys are just more predisposed to scarring than others because of the various factors.

If I'd known this was going to happen, I obviously would have stuck with Viagra.

@tarheelgwb, nope, no surgeries or prostate problems whatsoever, which is good for a guy my age. (61)

@DonBecker, the dosage is certainly relative, but the more volume of trimix that one injects at one time, the chances increase for adverse side effects. I'm lucky in that only 10 units is sufficient to give me more than adequate "wood", with no necessity to increase the dosage over the past year and a half. And this is trimix #1, which is the weakest version of the compound. I used Viagra for 10 years, and then the PDE5 inhibitors all quit working, thus the need for trimix.
