Trimix results erratic

It has been about 15 years since I started having erection problems. I am now 73. I started on Viagra 50mg in 2000, and it worked fine. Insurance covered cost, but even when they stopped paying, Viagra was only US$7.50 each. Found out that 50mg and 100mg Viagra were same price, so got a pill splitter. After about 8 years, I started having episodes when it failed after being hard a few minutes. So I started taking full 100mg. After another 5 years, I found that it worked sometimes, but not others. Also tried Cialis and Levitra.
The strange thing was that it did not work like 3 times out of 4, but I would go a couple of months when Viagra 100 would not work at all. Then it would be good for a few months. This cycle went on for two years. We have been married for over 50 years, but unreliable results were causing a strain on both of us. We were about to give up trying. I explained this to family doctor, who sent me to a Urologist.
I got my first injection of Trimix in January, 2015. Dosage was 0.30mg. Got the best erection ever. Problem was, it was rock solid at 4 hours, so off to emergency room. In case you do not know, they drain blood from the penis and inject norepinephrine. Kind of humiliating to explain what happened to several doctor, nurses and staff, while waiting for my urologist to get to the hospital.
A week later I got an injection of 0.10mg trimix. Got fat but not hard enough for sex. We were going on long trip and I did not want to go to a foreign hospital if things went wrong. I went back on Viagra and argenine. Surprisingly, that worked fine until Fall, 2015, when it was back to nothing for 2-3 months. Went to urologist for another issue and he encouraged me to try trimix again. He said that I just needed to find the right dosage. He started me on 0.15mg of 30/1/30. That worked for about 6 months starting Nov, 2015. By Spring, my erections were lasting longer each time. When it got to nearly 5 hrs, I decreased the dose by 0.01 each time, and found 0.12 worked fine. My uro said that is common because blood vessels have been opened up by repeated injections. Even 0.11 worked. About 6 weeks ago 0.11 did not do anything. Thought it might have been wrong spot so tried again 2 days later. Nothing. The doctor had warned me not to inject too often and trimix can stay in your system, so I waited a week and tried 0.12 which got big, but not hard. I am up to 0.14 about every 5-6 days for the past month and results are great. Rock hard for about 45min, then big but flaccid, and down to normal in 2 hours. Yesterday it took over 3 hours to go down completely. Weird thing is that it goes down a few minutes after sex but may become hard again 15 min after going flaccid. I’ll try 0.13 next time. At least with trimix, I can adjust the dosage. Still hoping to find a dosage that works well each time. I have to wonder if on again, off again experiences with Viagra are related to dosage changes with Trimix.
Has anyone else experienced such erratic behavior with Viagra or Trimix? If so, did you find out what caused it? Did it make any difference how many days between injections? Diet, exercise, stimulation?
Trimix is really cheap – about US$3.00 per injection at my dosage compared to genuine Viagra at about $40 per pill. Why aren’t more guys using it? Erratic behavior? Fear of injecting yourself, or they just don’t know it exists?
