Changes

I am in my early 50’s and have been wrestling with ED for quite a long time for no apparent reason.
I have been using Trimix since August of 2016. I started out with Trimix 7 (30/5/30). My Uro told me that I was able to inject every other day and since August, I have been having sex 3-4 times per week. Trimix was a miracle for me because the pills stopped working (I also couldn’t afford them) and it was great to count on being able to have sex again without wondering if it was going to work.
When I started out, I was using 8 and getting hard and firm results that were lasting more than an hour. The effect started to diminish and I transitioned to Trimix 15 (50/5/30) in March. At first it was fine but now results are getting very, very inconsistent even with using 25. The pharmacist said I could go all the way up to 50 but that feels like a lot to me. By mixed results (which are actually becoming consistent), I mean it gets about 75% hard. Most of the time, it’s hard enough to penetrate but it doesn’t last very long.
I am also wondering about the injection itself. My penis is small when flaccid with a diameter of about an inch. I am using half-inch needles and I’ve been pushing the needle all the way in (letting it dimple the skin) at a 90 degree angle (at the 3:00/9:00 location) and somewhat less of an angle if I use the 10:00/2:00 location. In looking at diagrams of the penis, given the length of the needle and the size of my penis, I’m wondering if I’m pushing all the way through to the corpus spongiosum instead of hitting the corpus cavernosa. Any thoughts on this? I alternate sides, alternate locations and move up and down from the base to the middle of the penis so I don’t always inject in the same place. I have carefully read most of the posts about how to inject and I feel like I’m doing it correctly. I don’t draw the plunger back to get blood in the syringe – I’ve tried, I can’t get blood (but there is always blood in the needle if I compress it after using it). I am careful about resistance and if it’s hard to push the plunger, I remove the needle and try again.
I should probably just go back to the doctor but there is a lot of experience on this board. Here is what I am thinking:
I can try a ring. I’ve actually been trying but I’m having trouble with the ring itself (I’ll figure it out)
I can try a shorter needle
I can try an auto-injector
I am open to any ideas any of you have. My general concern is relative to what changed? How did I go from having results that I could take to the bank to wondering if it was going to work (which isn’t helping either). I have been with the same woman that I absolutely adore, I have gained about 10 pounds and I have become slightly less active.
Thanks for your ideas and your help
