Has anyone experience a big price increase for Trimix?
In January 2017, I paid $65 for 5ml vial. In March, 2017 it went up to $85 and the compounding pharmacy supplied it in five 1ml vials. I called in a refill yesterday and it was $125. They offered to make up 10ml for $180. At $180, it still is a lot cheaper than Caverject or Viagra 100mg, so I am getting the 10ml.
For the past week I had been trying to locate generic cosopt. Seems there is a national shortage on one of the ingredients. Just wondering if drug companies are creating artificial shortages to jack the prices up.
Would like to know if this is just my pharmacy or if others have had the price of Trimix nearly double in 2017.

My last 10 ml vial, mail-ordered in mid-June from Talon Pharmacy in San Antonio with ice-pack overnight shipping, was $112. The previous batch, in January, was $100. Shipping accounts for more than 30 bucks of the cost.

I am in Missouri and trimix has been $115 per quarter 5ml vial for past 3 years. I have checked the region and apparently not many compounder pharmacies have the sterilization methods needed for it.

I also use Talon, (they are GREAT) and yes their was a small increase in price.
If I may make a suggestion, I get my 10mil, in (2) 5 mil vials--I then use an old pill bottle and promptly freeze (1) of the vials--and put the other in frig.
Also I get my syringes, and alcohol wipes at wallyworld--cheap!!
Rocky
ps--they ship to a lot of states, give them a call and find out if they will ship to your state.
Very easy to talk to, and they will move your script--like lickity split!!

I don't know the rules for it in the US, but here in Ontario, CANADA, pharmacists have to make it up in a sterile room. So unless the store has enough square footage to have a separate room that can be kept sterile, they can't make it.

I think the big problem when the spinal injections infected many people due to unsterile conditions in a compounding pharmacy, I believe in Mass, forced lots of compounders out of business or at least made them adopt more sterile conditions.

Yes, anything FDA regulated has to be filled in an aseptic room. It doesn't have to actually be compounded in an aseptic room, but if it isn't, it goes through a filtering process before it is aseptically filled. The problem is when you push air into the vial for the first injection you introduce pathogens that can multiply. The air we breathe is not clean unless you put it through a HEPA filter. Seeing as I only use the injection once a week at most, it's a huge waste of a 10ml vial keeping it for only 1 month, but I'm not really sure how long is safe.
I used to pay $35 with insurance including shipping, now it's $85 plus $25 shipping.

Where do you get it in five 1ml vials?? This would be ideal for me as I don't use the full vial in 1 month.
