Recovery time before 1/2 marathon?

First off, I jog/walk. Keeps me under the obese weight limits. I do love to eat well. So, I need to start training at the end of August. Nothing else other than walking 30 mins at a 13 min pace twice weekly and an increasing milage day. Starting with 3 miles, ending with 14 miles 19 weeks later.

Short of it: How long after implant before I can walk 3 miles at a 13min per mile pace?

Anyone been through an implant/return to running?

There are lots of variables involved like the skill of the surgeon, and what method he uses as well as everyone heals differently. When is your procedure scheduled for ?

Scheduled for September. January run might be too tight.

I don't run often anymore, but I think as has been said, it depends on your comfort. After implant surgery, I would have been ok with light running in a couple of weeks. I bought a jock strap. My activation was about 6 weeks later, this is where I had the most discomfort. Until I could use the pump correctly and have it go done as far as possible, I was in lot's of discomfort.

I mostly lift weights and jog on a treadmill now, my surgeon just told me to wait a couple of weeks and ease into it, that I would know when time to push.

Oh I thought it was before you start training. It’s a crapshoot really. Just try and see. I wouldn’t count on it tho.

The problem I see is the pump reacting to the up and down jarring with each and every step. Like a large breasted lady. Except down stairs. Something to think about.

I have been running since about a month after my surgery.
