Implant surgery was Monday, Sept 20. I had done my homework and felt very comfortable getting the procedure started.
Thanks to all who have left information and the sponsors of this wonderful site.
Surgery went well. The incision was horizontal at the base of the penis. The reservoir is on the lower right abdomen. The pump is quite apparent, but that will not be a problem. When my wife went through the information packet left by the surgeon following surgery, she found a pump for the implant. “Did we forget something?” I asked the MD. (a little post-surgery humor) Of course, the extra pump was furnished to become familiar with the mechanics of pumping reducing wear-and-tear on the scrotum. A nice courtesy, I think.
Pain? Yes, cutting tissue produces pain. Keep your focus on the results you want to achieve, and the nurse will help manage your pain. I was surprised that the area around the reservoir was the most uncomfortable. A request for morphine helped get through the afternoon of surgery. Gas in the digestive system and hiccoughs were a problem my first night at home but those discomforts are reduced now. I was sent home with pain killer and antibiotics. Recovery will be six weeks. My implant was not partially inflated as some of you have reported. My MD said that the LGX was his usual preference.
I have a kept a photo journal: original flaccid size, original Levitra size, and various stages following the surgery.
You and your partner have many issues to resolve in making a decision to get an implant. I hope that you can resolve these issues and decide that an implant is right for you.
At home now with my AMS700LGX!

Hank...thanks for posting. I go Monday to discuss an implant with Dr. Milam. Who did your implant? Are you going to post those pics you mentioned? I think i will also create a photo journal and post it on this site to help others who take this journey. Jerry

October 23 it will be two years since my implant by Dr. Milam at Vanderbilt.
It is hard to put into words how well it works. The pain of surgery and recovery will quickly become a distant memory. The restoration of your sexual function is best described as Spirtual. Who would have thought we could have an erection better than a 20 year old, or even last longer.
I am trying to find words for my two year update. I will post it around the 23 of October. I posted my one year and at that time I thought it could not get better. I am here to tell you it does.
This is sending you gentlemen wishes for a speedy recovery.
Enjoy
Jack

Glad all is well with you guys, I get my Titan implant tomorrow morning at 10AM. My fingers are crossed that the VA hospital does a good job.

Thinking about an implant
My name is george, and I am new to this web site. The injections are not working as well as they use to. I use the Tri-Mix. Either i am not hitting the cavity in the right place, or I am building up scar tissue or both. The implant interests me. My family doc is in favor of the surgery. I haven't had any prostate surgery, or probably won't in the near future (PSA 1.8). My problem is from the medication that I am taking for my heart and high blood pressure, (Crestor, Plavix, Naispan, Prednisone, Methylin, Amlod/benazprine, Halicon).
I am very much interested in hearing from anybody about their implants.
Thanks
George (age 63 retired)
