Home and recovering from 3rd implant... Correction 4th
Re: Home and recovering from 3rd implant...
Born 1948, wed 1969. BPH & Type II Diabetes at age 35. TURP-2002; ED even before that--diabetes. Cardiac valve surgery: 2007 & 2019. Poor results with pills. Started trimix injections in Nov, 2010. Great results from the very beginning.

And so far neither is the 4th. I haven't given up yet but it's a really depressing situation. I have all this HARD tissue mass in my left testicle and my pubic bone padding. And I mean HARD not firm. I wonder if my left testicle has been destroyed or if this hard mass will ever soften back to normal. It's pretty scary at this point, and I'm doubting my satisfaction with the malleable implant, only time will tell.

Greg --
I'm very sorry to hear about your problems, and the infection. The scariest thing about the surgery for me, was the possibility of infection. I did a lot of research before my surgery, and that convinced me that selection of a surgeon was very very important. Everything I read about infection was that if it happens, getting the right surgeon is much more important than even the initial selection. It may well be that the only thing to be done in the near term is wait and let it heal, but if I were in your shoes, at some point I would try to get additional opinions from one or two of the very best surgeons I could find anywhere in the world.
I know that Dr Eid, who was my surgeon and for whom I have great respect, will (for a fee) do a telephone consult. Not as valuable as an in person consult, but possibly still useful as an initial step. Perhaps others would do the same. I know that in the case of infection, Dr Eid sometimes will try another 3 piece right away, in other cases the malleable as you have, but that he normally regards the malleable as a temporary situation during the healing period while the infection is cured. He would normally, if the patient is willing, try to later reinstall a 3 piece again. I understand that post infection implant surgery is about as difficult as any implant surgery can be.

harddrive,
I just caught up with your thread. I soared with your promising reports, and crashed with the later reports of the infection and removal. I am so sorry to hear of a less-than good result. Hang in there. I don't know what may come of this, but stay in touch. I and others would like to support you as we can.

Well, I'm still pretty much confined to my bed, I have a PIC line stitched into my arm, and lots of antibiotics pushing through me 24/7. I've lost and I'm still losing a lot of weight due to nausea and loss of appetite and loss of taste. I'm 99% sure I'll have to get another surgery. I'm a very depressed camper right now... I'm hoping the 5th time might work for me...

55 years old. ED since 2002 total venous leakage after penile fracture. Tried all the pills and injections all failed to help. Some success with VED, but felt too unnatural to both of us, seldom used. Implanted 06/21/12. Trying to wear IT out.

Sadly, I'm very sure another surgery will have to be done. This malleable inplant doesn't seem to be implanted correctly either. I can feel it extending way past my scrotum and almost to my anus. You can even grab and bend it back there. There must be something wrong. Also, when pulling it up into an errect position, as soon as you let go, it just falls and points to the floor. It's hard if you actually squeeze the shaft, but it flops all the way up/down. In other words, I won't be able to control any side friction on the top or bottom of the vaginal walls. Something I always have to do for my wife to get off. She requires that I ride high, and put a LOT of friction on her upper wall. So now that's not possible.
Does ANYONE have some experience with these malleable devices? I'm going to be stuck with it for about a year, so I'd like to find some way of using it.
With all this information in mind, I haven't actually used it with my wife since I'm not fully heald, and still have an open wound. I'm just trying to figure this thing out before the ribbon cutting day.

Re: Home and recovering from 3rd implant... Correction 4th
Update:
My doctor finally took me off antibotics and removed my PIC line. I'm really glad that's gone... Most of the swelling is gone now but I have a really significant amount of internal scaring and hard tissue. The Doc says some of that will reduce over the next 9 months or so.
I found out about the hard protrusion point back near my rectum. During all the problems with this last surgery, basically my penis was damaged really bad. Where the corpora on one side goes deep into the body, it was basically broken and now it doesn't deflect properly, and doesn't support the implant well enough to hold my penis in an erect position even when bent upwards. The doctor said it can be MOSTLY corrected but I'm going to be stuck with it for many months.
We (me / wife) did try it out and I gotta tell ya, it didn't work out too well. It's hard from side to side, but flops up and down so much it's difficult to get any friction. I'm really unhappy about all this and wondering if this will ever be worked out. Switching doctors isn't really an option either. I've had several doctors now but the problem is that I can only work with who the VA sends me. I can't pick the doctor, so I'm pretty worried about the next operation and how much more scaring I'll get for that one.
Well, that's about it.... Goodnight...
