NHS/UK BROTHERS

Postby Josephette » Thu Nov 14, 2019 3:41 pm

Hi all,

I have posted before (a long time ago) on the hello/introduction section but would like to start here. I am young male and going through ED (3 years now and going onto the 4th). I have tried near enough all treatments and nothing has worked for me. I have Tried Viagra's, Pump, Pellet medication, counselling, doppler ultrasound with caverject (results came back as normal but the injection caused a very painful erection which lasted about 2 hours) and recently had an NPT test and the results for this i will get at the end of the month.

I am based in Greater Manchester (UK) but was referred for an NPT test at UCLH London under Dr Ralph (As this is the closest hospital to me that provide the NPT test). I strongly believe and know i need the implant. Dr Ralph has mentioned I need to wait for these results before going ahead with any other form of treatment as no known cause has been found for my ED.

I have seen Dr Ralph privately and mentioned i wanted the implant and only wanted the implant done by him and nobody else. Dr Ralph's response was, as i am under his care under the NHS (NPT TEST), i can have the implant under him under the NHS which will save me £12000-£13000 and i can opt for him to carry this out. My concern about this is, UCLH (NHS) is a teaching hospital and is notorious on this website for IMPLANT botch ups. Dr Ralph has said he can carry out the operation but I don't know if i am really guaranteed this. As there have been cases where patients have been told their implant will be carried out by Dr Ralph and it was only partially carried out by him or it was carried out by some other surgeon due to Dr Ralph being unavailable.

I am currently under the care of Manchchester Hospital (NHS), my andrologist is Dr Arie Parnham who also carries outs implant procedures and he has said he can also carry this operation should i opt to go with him. He also has no issues if I opt to go with Mr Ralph at UCLH. Dr Arie Parnham has great online credentials, he has trained and worked under Dr Ralph and spoke highly of him but I have never heard of any procedures or implant stories about Dr Arie Parnham. Has anyone had any treatment, implant procedure or any experience with Dr Arie Parnham?

It's a catch 20:20 for me. I can go under Dr Ralph at UCLH (NHS) who is very well known but because the operation will be carried out at UCLH, this really puts me on edge as this hospital is known for implant butchery and not providing patients with the surgeons they are told they will have. The second option is to stay at my current hospital in Manchester (NHS) and have the operation carried out by Dr Arie Parnham.

What would you guys advise and what are your thoughts? Would really appreciate feedback especially from the UK brethren.
