Hi guys. I'm relatively new to FrankTalk but have read a lot of posts. I'm hoping you can help me make some very important decisions. My name is Roger & I'm 58 yo and have ED as a result of Type II diabetes. The urologists that belong to my health insurance provider seem to have made the decision to only install the AMS LGX. From what I've read here and on the Yahoo penileimplant group, it seems like the LGX is a great device; I'm just not sure it's the best device for me. I met with the urologist surgeon a couple of months ago and he said I was a good candidate for an implant based on my medical history and he would install the LGX even before he had me take off my pants.
I am well-endowed. I measure my length using the vacuum pump and via the flacid pull and it's approx. 7-3/4". My girth fully erect is approx. 5-5/8". My main concern is that I am able to get a very firm erection with the implant. I can wait 6 mos. until the next open-enrollment period and select another health insurance provider if I have to. This is extremely important to me & I want to make the right choice.
I've read that the Coloplast Titan is better for well-endowed guys (7"+) but not sure if that's true or just marketing hype. Are there some guys out there that are 7-3/4"+ that have had the LGX installed? I'd like to know if you are satisfied with the quality of your erections. Also if there are other well-endowed guys here that have faced a similar decision, can you help me make this decision.
Thanks.
Roger

Roger,
Welcome ...
You can not get an accurate measurement using VED ... so did the URO actually measure you?
The general "rule-of-thumb" is to pull your penis straight out, as far as possible ... now look down, that is about what you will get from Implant. Are you still really looking at 7 3/4"?
Yes, the consensus is that the more well-endowed are better off with the Titan, as they can handle longer cylinder length.

Ask your URO what his plan is for your length ... express your concerns ... if you don't like the answers, say so! If you are still unsure find another URO. Your Health provider should be able to provide you with a list of URO's ...
With either model (AMS vs Titan) the "very firm erection" (hardness) is not an issue ...

Re: Coloplast Titan vs. AMS LGX
Roger,
In general, the Coloplast Titan is recommened for men with Peyronies Disease (Curvature of the Penis) and for men who are well endowed (7+ inches erect).
The reason is that the Titan is made of sturdier material (Bioflex).
I was implanted with the Titan in December 2007 after having developed ED Post Proststectomy in 2004.
The Titan completely corrected my ED and fully restored my sex life.
Like me, the final decision is yours and yours alone Roger.
Please keep us posted on your progress.
Best Wishes,
Bob

Re: Coloplast Titan vs. AMS LGX
Thanks for the info. guys. The URO never actually measured me & I never brought up the issue of my size. The appt. was a few months ago & I was not aware of all the issues at that time. I can schedule another appt. with him & discuss my concerns. I did remeasure the length using the flacid stretch test & it is a little smaller - approx. 7-1/2".
I'd still appreciate hearing from some guys who have the LGX and are 7-1/2" long erect. Thanks.

I was in a similar situation. The first Dr. I saw was wanting to install the AMS LGX but like you I had researched and found that the Titan would be a better fit for me on the basis of being over seven inches. I called the doctor several times and left messages telling him I wanted to discuss this concern. Neither he nor his assistant would return my calls. I then contacted Coloplast. They in turn put me in contact with a doctor in Birmingham, Alabama that teaches implant surgury. I met with him and he agreed that the AMS LGX was not appropriate. He performed my implant using the Titan. I'm now five months post op and able to pump it up to my pre ED length of 7 1/2 inches. It feels great. My only concern now is getting back the girth. I'm up to 5 3/4 and hoping to get back to 6 1/4 inches. Best advise I have seen on this site is that when the doctor gives you the ok you need to "work it" at least a couple of times a day. Remember no pain no gain.

Re: Coloplast Titan vs. AMS LGX
My uro mentioned that for longer dicks he'd put CX instead as those provide better firmness.
I am on the border between the models (7" fully erected) so I guess I will know which implant I get only when I wake up after the surgery.

Thanks for the information guys. No, the urologist never did measure the flacid length of my penis & to be honest, I never brought up the subject. The appt. was a few months ago & I didn't know it would be an issue. I will bring the issue up with him soon.
