Traction device after the surgery

Postby danny1553 » Fri Sep 21, 2012 10:41 am

On another forum (dedicated to peyronie) I found an interesting note:

The 6 week period following surgery is a time for healing and caution. My doctor did recommend using traction AFTER this period was over. I had excision and grafting and the traction was to help keep the graft tissue stretched and plicable as it was "settling in". My doctor particularly wanted me to use traction during months 3 through 6 post surgery. I'm quite pleased with the results 2 years later.

Anybody else tried using it after the surgery? The idea is stretching the scar tissue thus maximizing the length expansion capacity of LGX.

Another interesting note from the same forum:
I should have added that, yes, my surgeon is aware that I am using the VED with the implant. He saw no reason to not use it if it will help restore some of the lost length, etc. His comment about AMS's prohibition was that the company has to adopt that policy because of legal concerns. Remember, AMS also states in their literature that the LGX implant should not be used by Peyronies Disease sufferers.
I don't mean to suggest that he didn't say "be careful". Of course he did. All precautions about overdoing use of the pump are absolutely still valid. The fact that there is saline fluid in the cylinders within the corpora vs. blood doesn't change the potential of tissue damage from overuse.

I asked that question before about using VED after the implant but all replies were to not to. Now it seems the matter is not that straightforward... :?:

danny1553,
Not to sound rude ... but you are grasping at straws here ...

Think about what you are asking ... if you use a "traction device" on an Implant you could do severe damage. The traction device most likely would pull the tips of the Implant away from the glans (head) ... that's how it works ... attaches behind\below the head and then stretches the penis. That thought scares me ...

As for VED there are no written rules against it ... and most URO's simply don't know and don't want to be responsible in the event something went wrong. Try getting that in writing from a URO ... that they recommended VED as part of your "after-care" (rehab) ... fat chance.

FYI: yes I have used both devices prior to Implant surgery ... and I have tried the VED with my Implant max pumped, to see if it would increase the blood flow to the area. I would never try this on a flaccid penis, as it may do the same damage as the traction devide (pull the head away from the tips) ...

Thanks Bionic_by_AMS
Yes, that's what I thought.
I wouldn't take a risk using the traction device as I am totally agree that it might cause the tips shift.
But as for the VED device after the surgery I might try if my URO will not mind.
That's the good point to use VED only when the implant is fully inflated...

So did it help you to stretch and break up the scar tissue?

It does increase the blood flow to the glans ... however I do not have any noticable scar tissue (very minor from Injections).

Scar tissue issues should be taken care of prior to Implant surgery (VED,traction) ... or at least discussed with URO doing the surgery. Some URO's will "model" to address the scar tissue, and there is a separate operation to remove severe scar tissue (usually not covered by insurance)

I'm sure you will have a satisfactory outcome ... give it time to heal ... then use your built-in pump as much as possible ...
