Early activation of revision

Postby Jamie7891 » Sun Mar 29, 2020 8:01 am

So had a revision done on 23/3/2020 healing has been amazing to be honest and can’t wait return
Activity

Doc said only new pump was spliced onto existing hardware
See u in 4 weeks for activation so straight away asked him but only the pump was replaced does it still need 4weeks it’s got no internal stitches that could tear .... only penoscrotal incision was made to access the pump

It’s been a week got zero swelling and incision healing up nicely

From the people on here for pump revision only how long did you have to wait

I have popped the valve couldn’t help my self gave it few squeeze then deflated everything feel same as before

Do You think a 2-4 week wait on activation is necessary I get the incision still needs to heal I want to start cycling now to reduced size lost it gas been pump/stretched for bit over a month now

????
31 year old :D tried pills for 5years
Trimix too painful and not spontaneous

Was implanted by dr katelaris on 13/8/18 in Sydney Adventist Hospital
With AMS 700 LGX 21cm & 3cm RTE
Revision failed pump
Dr katelaris on 23/3/2020

The general recommendation of 4-6 weeks before sex has to do with being fully healed on the outside of your incision. If you have any stitches visible or any rawness you want to wait until it passes. An infection in the scrotum could migrate to the cylinders easily and then you'd have to have the entire implant removed.

As for cycling, my doctor gave me a 2-week wait and Dr Eid usually has his patients wait 3 days... Use you're best judgement.

I had a revision like you did which was actually my second revision in ten months. The first revision I had problems with the MS pump from the start sticking until it finally just quit. So on the second revision since the cylinders were only ten months old the surgeon all he done was to make some corrections as to how far the cylinders had to be moved up. Now the tips are right on the center of the gland which by doing that he had to add rte's at the base for a total of 21cm. But the surgery was on the scrotum, he replaced the pump with a new pump. I never did ask whether it was the MS pump or a different brand, but this one works really good. I healed up amazingly fast. I believe I got the green light to use it at around three weeks. But I wanted to be cautious and I waited four weeks before I started pumping it up because I did not want the stitched area to reopen. Best job ever done by a surgeon. It is perfect.

@RayChez, if your pump has the long rectangular valve block above the bulb and the deflate button is on one side of the block (not the end), and the bulb hangs down with the tubing going up from there, it is an AMS MS pump. I believe that is the only AMS pump that is on the market now (might be wrong). I don't think they would install pumps from other manufacturers (Coloplast) because it would likely void the warranty on the remainder of the device and create a liability problem for the surgeon if a cylinder catastrophically fails, possibly due to the non-standard unmatched pump.

Thanks Waynetho, the pump is exactly the way you described it. Bulb in the bottom of the rectangular block with the release button on center of the block. So it must be the MS pump, and it makes sense because that is what was removed.
Thanks waynetho.
