I’ve been lurking and learning on FT since last November and I want to thank all of you guys for being so willing to share your implant journey. I’m now just two weeks post-op and want to start helping make the road a bit less scary for those of you contemplating a penile implant. So, here’s my story thus far…
Although I’m 72 now, I still have a strong libido and enjoy lovemaking with my wife of 37 years as often as possible, despite an ongoing and losing battle with ED for about the past 20 years. Over the first 15 or so years with ED, I used Viagra, Levitra and then Cialis to achieve serviceable erections. With each one of these pills, as time wore on the effectiveness waned. Sometimes I was so desperate for an erection that would enable me to have penetrative intercourse that I would take up to 5X the recommended dosage (and suffer the side effects).
When oral meds stopped working completely – regardless of dose – I began injection therapy. Although I achieved really firm erections with Tri-Mix, this medication caused the erections to be very painful and led to three trips to the ER for treatment of Priapism! For several years after that, I experimented with various mixtures of Bi-Mix. While the results varied, no particular mixture worked consistently and I began to develop Peyronie’s Disease because the injections caused scar tissue to form.
Next came a series of ShockWave treatments, as well as embryonic stem cell injections. Neither was beneficial, except to significantly shrink my bank account! At this point, I had exhausted all possible ED treatments out there except one…THE NUCLEAR OPTION…a penile implant!
After several months of extensive research on the surgery, devices and surgeons…as well as spending many evenings reading posts on FT…I decided to end my indecisiveness and have the procedure, which was scheduled to be performed on May 6 by Dr. Jesse Mills at UCLA.
Because of the Coronavirus Pandemic, which shutdown elective surgeries across the country in March and April, it was uncertain whether or not my procedure would go forward during the first week of May. The prospect looked rather bleak and I really expected it to be cancelled. I didn’t even think much about the surgery until the week before the scheduled date, which turned out to be a blessing. Less time to worry and stress out! In fact, the morning of the day before the surgery, it was cancelled, only to be put back on schedule a few hours later. The fickle finger of fate! (My surgery was actually the very first one done at UCLA after a layoff of nearly two months).
Dr. Mills implanted an AMS 700 LGX of 18 cm with 2 RTEs in just over an hour. I was kept in recovery on a 23-hour hold and given an on-demand morphine drip for pain, something that I had insisted upon. Within two days of leaving the surgical center, I experienced delayed swelling of my testicular sac. It felt like my balls each weighed 10 pounds and I had difficulty getting comfortable. Continuous ice and narcotic pain med for the first week, tapered off to Extra Strength Tylenol for the next several days. Warm baths and elevation beginning week two greatly reduced the swelling and pain, which is nearly gone now at the two-week mark. My sutures will be removed tomorrow and cycling will begin. I’m looking forward to continued healing and turning my attention to enjoying the reason I had the implant done in the first place. Stay tuned and best of luck to all of you who are contemplating this option for permanently circumventing your ED.

Two Weeks Post-Op
Implanted 5/6/20 by Dr. Jesse Mills at UCLA; AMS 700 LGX 18 cm w/2 cm RTEs. I'm 76 & fit but had ED for 20 years. Pills/injections ultimately failed, including 3 ER trips for Priapism; Shockwave & embryonic stem cell therapies didn't help either.

Way to go and Congratulations! The best is yet to come.

I am 67 yrs old and had my implant surgery 4 months ago. I did not have any pain or problems other than swelling. I had to heal and follow up with surgeon six weeks later. He cleared me for sex and we have been having a great time since. Some of best sex in our 36 yrs of marriage. So happy for you as you will never regret getting your implant. All you have to do is pump a few pumps and hop on! I can’t even describe how wonderful it is now compared to injecting my cock, pills etc. I threw all that stuff away! Now it’s just my cock and my wife! I wish you the best. You will love your new toy! God Bless!

Great job. Turn up the heat in your tub to as hot as you can tolerate it. Especially when you start cycling. The hot water makes the rubber on the pump more pliable and easier to squeeze... it feels damn good too. When you start cycling be sure to pump it up all the way until it STARTS to be uncomfortable. That is where it will be stretching length and girth AND prevents scar tissue. Good Luck.
