Hi All
A newbie here - and I came across this after google searching what my problem could be - and I saw this thread by "wings1995"
viewtopic.php?t=7057
I'm having the same issue, and really hoping that someone can please help.
I had my Coloplast Titan implanted by Dr Eid in 2013 - all has been great since then. It normally takes me about 25 pumps to get to hard, and about 30 pumps to get to rock painful hard. No problems at all.
Right up until about 10 days ago - where I tried to pump. I reached about 20 - so it was almost hard but not quite... and then the pump would indent - ie meaning "Im full - cant do anymore". I could release and then pump again, but it would always reach this same stage - ie just below fully hard, and then indent, and stay like that - until I press the release valve again.
Ive tried cycling / deflating every day since, for the last 10 days, but keep stopping after 20 pumps with the indent.
What on earth could be causing this? Can anyone please help who has had this before? I live in the UK. Techicially the mechanism is working, but something is telling it that it has reached its limit before it actually has. I trust people on here - Im willing to send a video of this happening... Just really at my wits end
Many thanks
Titan pump suddenly becomes indented while pumping, restricting how much fluid can go into the cylinders

You need to call your surgeon. You can also call Coloplast,800-258-3476.

Thanks gjmjoe - I appreciate that. Ive reached out to Dr Eid and his team - just waiting for them to get back to me
Re: Titan pump suddenly becomes indented while pumping, restricting how much fluid can go into the cylinders
Have you tried rotating the pump slightly so you are depressing a different part of the pump bulb? I have the feeling (unfounded) that repeatedly pumping on the same part of the bulb could eventually weaken the bulb and cause an indent. Might be worth trying that just so you know if the problem is internal or at the bulb.

Thanks Warren - thats good of you. I'll try that out tonight.
Re: Titan pump suddenly becomes indented while pumping, restricting how much fluid can go into the cylinders
Yeah still no luck sadly
I tried rotating the bulb... Tried squeezing East/West, rather than my normal North/South on the bulb... and it seems to just stop at about 20 presses - just before it is about to get fully hard - which is really strange. Ive reached out to Dr Eid and to Coloplast, and waiting on either to get back to me...
Does anyone have any theories about what on earth could be causing this?
The bulb only indents after about the 20th press, and works completely fine before that - Every single day for the last 10 days Ive been trying...
Many thanks

Two theories, both of which may require some degree of revision:
- The reservoir wasn't filled full enough and through stretching of the cavernosa, you've reached the capacity of the reservoir and need more saline to fill them out now.
- There is a saline leak in the system and there is less available now than there was previously.
The first scenario where it was under-inflated and you've reached capacity, might be resolved by doing a minor revision to add more saline to the system. There would be an incision and likely they would cut a quick-connect, add fluid and then reconnect the tubing again.
The second scenario where there's a slow leak, since it's not known where the leak is, this would probably require a replacement of the cylinders, pump and reservoir to cover the bases. It's even possible a surgeon might choose this method even if it is fairly certain that the implant is using all of the originally supplied saline.

Thanks Waynetho. I think it is most likely the second theory. The first one, I was very rarely stretching to full when I cycled..
With regards to the second one - is it possible for the Dr to view say through ultrasound or some kind of scan, when the implant is being inflated, just what is happening with the reservoir?
Thanks

Re: Titan pump suddenly becomes indented while pumping, restricting how much fluid can go into the cylinders
I have a similar issue with my titan. It was installed back in June of this year. The pump bulb stays indented when the fluid is maxed out. I have had this issue with both of my implants. The first one eventually failed after 14 months and all of the fluid leaked out. Now this second one is doing the same thing. Hopefully it is because I have maxed out the amount of fluid available in the reservoir. I plan on talking with my urologist in the next couple of months to try and get to the bottom of the issue. It also seems that full inflation does not happen at this point, and am not sure if this is a common problem as the chambers stretch.

Hi
When this happened the first time when all the fluid leaked out after 14 months, did the whole implant have to be replaced, or just the fluid reservoir itself replaced and reconnected to the tubes and pump?
Many thanks
