Thanks for all the replies.
Ok so they showed me the implant. They are saying since the rods don’t change length only whether they are rigid or not. So they size the implant to your resting cavernosa size otherwise the rigid caps will press against your glans if too long.
I mean that’s three people that have told me that at this hospital. Including one guy that works down Nottingham sometimes. I’m confused as hell. I mean lots of guys on here on the forum seem to have successful ops and they can’t all be big show-ers beforehand?
I’m going to contact Mr David Ralph in London and do a bit more research.
In the meantime. I’ll try to keep going with VED and work out a concentration of sildenafil I can take daily that does not kick off the rhoids. Ved literally does not work at all no matter how hard i pump it without pde5’s.

Is the only option for you the malleable rod implant? Why not the inflatable implant?
I dont know much about the malleable rod implant, but if it only gave the recipient an erect length equal to their flaccid length then I would not have one. For me it would have been very short in length and unuseable.
Now, as with many other implantee's here I am a shower and am very happy with the results.

Re: NHS Implant - No good if you are a grower?
As @LostSheep says, you should have the same length as an erection produced via an injection, Viagra etc. As for measuring the penis, I do not think the flaccid or partial erect stretch is accurate because it doesn’t take girth into account. Would you want your penis to look like it does when pulling on it flacid? I doubt it.
My two cents: Do a phone consult with Dr. Eid, Dr Hakky or literally anyone other than YOUR doctor.

Re: NHS Implant - No good if you are a grower?
Dr Ralph is very skilled. Are you/they getting confused about your flaccid length with the implant installed compared to your erect length. After rp, I was flaccid about 1 1/2 inch long. When I got a trimix erection I am 6 inch long. With the cylinders inside that does not shrink back that much, my flaccid now is 5 1/2 inches. I had an active Sex Life right up to the time of the prostatectomy, and was 6 inch hard. 9 moths after the RP with implant installed I am 6 inch hard. I never was a shower and for me it took some time getting used to having a 5 1/2 flaccid penis. You will be ok.

As boots1959 has said what the doctors you are talking to are talking about a malleable rod implant and they are correct as this rigid type is known to cause erosion and is placed short for that reason. All of the replies on this thread and threads you have read are from men with Inflatable implants that have cylinders, a pump, and a reservoir where saline is pumped in the cylinders and then returned to the reservoir when not inflated. So this is the reason for the confusion is that there are 2 types of implants. The most common is the inflatable which most all men and threads on this board refer to and a malleable in which you seldom see a thread about.
So as boots1959 wrote is there a reason for not being able to get an inflatable?

Re: NHS Implant - No good if you are a grower?
Hi.
The NHS staff were talking about a 3 piece inflatable and they showed me an AMS700.
So the discussions I had were about these units not malleable types.
I’m 3.5-4” flaccid unless it’s cold ; ) And 6.5” erect (after double dosing with pde5’s and VED) for about 1-2 secs before it gives out.
I left the appointment thinking well they must be right. If you have cylinders or rods that don’t change in length I guess they have to size so you don’t end up with pressure points etc.
I’m not worried the implant would make me a shower. That would be fine although I do enjoy cycling (bikes) and I’ve a nose less saddle but I’d still like to cycle for 3 hrs like I do now. The most I’ve read one guy rides is about an hour before they get uncomfortable. But I’d rather have a functional penis!

Wahey! So you've had it confirmed that you are good and suitable for the inflatable implant not the rigid malleable one.. Brilliant! Then you really should take a big ol chill pill. The possibility of a very nice result is there for you. I do wonder if there's been a miscommunication/misunderstanding. It's a basic clinical standard to size to the stretched length. Any implanter with any level of training and experience will know this and should be aiming for that. Whether they get it right or not is another question and that's why it's important to find the best surgeon you can. Pleased to hear you're looking at Prof. Ralph. I'll let you know how mine goes with him later today!!

This is complete bullshit. I have an AMS and my flaccid is smaller than my erect size. Yes, maybe you should seek out another doctor.
When it is fully pumped the cylinders are expanded to their full length. When not inflated, your penile tissues compress the flexible material of the implant.

With a good doctor and an inflatable device you should not be far off those numbers after surgery. I have an lgx AMS 700 and am 4.5" deflated and 6" inflated. If you have a CX with stiffer cylinders this might not have as much of a lower deflated measurement. But you should still be at or very close to your current erect length. So yes it seems the information you were getting from the health care providers was for a malleable and not for a inflatable. The CX does not expand in length however as an LGX does. But it is still an inflatable and releases pressure on the glans when deflated. No reason to put one in shorter like would be the case with the malleable.
Best of luck to you going forward with this.

As a few people have already said - I would book an appointment with Prof David Ralph in London before you make any further decision. He will give you exact information and go through all options with you. One of the most expierienced implant surgeons out there and highly rated as one of the best. I have had first hand expierience with Prof David Ralph as one of his patients and cannot recommend him highly enough.
