Oh well...

Postby gregorbehr » Tue Jan 15, 2013 10:35 pm

Well I WAS implanted.... For a whole 3 weeks.
Doc decided infection risk was too high now that the tubes had been exposed.
So he removed the whole thing....
This was my one chance at doing this because of my limited finances.
My doc said he'd suggest a specialist at UCSF Medical cause all the scar tissue and having lost one so quickly if I wanted to try again.
But my insurance has no contract with UCSF and I'm not even sure how pay for the implant I just had, let alone pay for one with no insurance.

So I'm in moderate pain, deeply Deeply depressed. Now I won't even pop a bent up semi boner.... So totally impotent and feel so very very much less of a man.

2 TURP surgeries caused Peyronie's. 1st implant lost to infection, 2nd one is about 5 years old. But "floppy head" due to all the scar tissue, couldn't get tips all the way up.

Greg, I'm so sorry that you had such a horrific experience. The insurance problems on top of that must be very difficult. Hopefully your insurance will cover a redo once you heal enough?

Greg,
I am so sorry to hear of your problem. Never give up hope that there can be a solution for you.

Since your insurance will not cover UCSF I suggest you get a list of all the urologists it will cover and then research them to find one that has the most experience with implants and would be the best choice to re-implant you, given your experience. I would not use the same Urologist again as he may have contributed to the problem. But even the best Urologists do have infections in 0.5% of their surgeries so the chance is always there unfortunately. You could contact each of the Urologists' offices, ask if they do implants and how many they have done in the last one year and five years. Then contact the best doctor's describe your implant experience and ask if they would be willing to re-implant you. I'm guessing that you could not be re-implanted until you have healed up for a period of time, so you have time to do research.

Best wishes that you will find a good doc and surgery #2 will be successful.
