Hello Members,
I had implant surgery with Dr. Eid last Feb 2012 with a Titan installed. Turns out that the left cylinder (21cm) is a bit twisted, leaning left, and almost going to the tip. There's no pain but Dr. Eid would like to replace just the left cylinder with a smaller one, probably 20 cm, without touching any of the other components to make a more comfortable fit and straighten things out. He will be installing the new Titan zero degree cylinder. Has anyone experienced just getting the cylinder replaced? Is this a less invasive surgery than the original implant surgery..I would think so. This repair is not for failure of the implant but a wrong fit. Any info is appreciated...thanks,
cylinder replacement
Re: cylinder replacement
I am curious...was this an error made by Dr. Eid or was there something unique and unusual that caused the problem. I am considering going to Eid and would like any input I can find...especially since your sounds negative on first glance...could you please explain
Re: cylinder replacement
I think its a bit of both..I had a motorcycle accident so there was some scarring on my part but I think it was over-sized a bit. Dr. Eid is a great doctor and would be very confident going to him for the implant procedure. Im not negative at all..just curious to hear from anyone who might have had a cylinder replacement.
Re: cylinder replacement
Hi Jerry,
I curious about what symptoms, if any, you had. Was this something Dr Eid identified on a followup exam, or was there something specific you were experiencing?
Thanks.

Re: cylinder replacement
Actually it was something I went in to show Dr. Eid a few months ago. At surgery, the cylinders were sized different with the left shortened 1cm compared to the right. It always hung to the right, but whether it was my body anatomy or re-sizing, the left needs to be replaced with a smaller cylinder since the end of the implant is about 1/4 inch from the tip. Seems a bit twisted at the base too (no pain)... It could have done this because had trauma/scarring in the area from a motorcycle accident years ago and the reason I got the implant in the first place since I had a pretty signficant venous leak. I have confidence that Dr. Eid will correct this.
