I am due to get an implant late this fall. One of my big concerns is the affect my daily morning runs will have on it in terms of wear on the components and, especially, the tubing, having heard the that is the most subject to wear and tear, and is usually the first part that fails. Also, I am wondering how long after surgery can running activity resume, as well as how.. the unit will feel during my runs.
I run 4.5 miles early every morning and follow it up with 200 slightly inclined sit ups (4 sets of 50). This is a staple in my lifestyle and I would go as far as not having the procedure if it meant giving up this daily routine.
i would greatly appreciate all feedback from those in the know concerning this aspect of implants.
Thank you in advance

Running with an implant
67 year old. ED 25 years. pills don't work. Injections worked great for 3 years but last year they have continued a decline in effect. Also, 40 degree Peyronies curve to the left. No pain but a little awkward at times for intercourse.
Re: Running with an implant
I think you will be able to resume running in a matter of weeks following surgery. No two guys heal at the same rate. I would recommend wearing supportive underwear or a jock when you run. The sit ups might take a bit longer to get back to, depending on how your surgeon places your reservoir, but regardless, it will be ok with some time. Make your surgeon aware of these, and any concerns you may have.
20 years of severe Peyronie's plaque, 90 curve, hinging and ED. Cost me 1.5" L and 1" G.

Re: Running with an implant
I stopped running years ago because of problems with my knees, but earlier this year I discovered the elliptical. I would think the elliptical might be a little less abrasive on the implant and I can tell you that it's the best substitute for running I have found. It gives a very similar cardio feeling to running. Another possible substitute is walking on a steep incline

As stated , we all heal at a different pace.
However, I was back in the gym after a couple of months, would have been sooner but another health issue came up.
I can honestly say the implant has not affected me one bit back doing excercise, be that lifting weights, running , cross trainer , sit ups etc. I have chosen a tighter brand of trunks post op and this helps keep everything stored correctly haha!!

This is really good to here. I’m very into weightlifting and one of my concerns was that I just wouldn’t be able to lift as hard or do certain things. I was willing to give it up bc I was sick of this just ruining my life. I’ll follow my docs advice, it this is what he told me weeks ago.

Re: Running with an implant
I run, totally zero impact on it, you won't even notice any difference, and one positive, if you are like me and after an intense run where you sweat a lot, pre-implant I would turtle so bad, which doesn't happen now having an implant, so that's a nice positive.

Newstart you’re my hero, (lgx). I do jumping jacks + daily and the gym weighs twice a week, just getting back into it after my release in July. But 200 sit-ups! Bud I would like to work up to that.

Re: Running with an implant
Great to hear this advice I have a fitness routine too. My hobby is rock climbing and caving which involves wearing a harness that goes around the waist with straps over the groin lymph node area. I’m a bit concerned if I take a fall if the sudden force on the harness could damage the implant. Am I best giving up the hobbies and doing something less risky like bird watching ?

Jonarr
Its interesting, I know I’m guilty of this, stepping into this forum I assumed it was a bunch of older cubby dudes that didn’t take care of them selves and ended up with ed. I was the guy that was the exception, healthy and just had bad luck w the boner. Lol …After 6 months reading tons here I would say most of the men here are healthy take charge kind of guys.

Re: Running with an implant/running with scissors
Running with scissors is dangerous. Running with an implant is not (unless you are running with the implant inflated).
To Jonarr, if your harness is a danger to your implant (more than it used to be to your testicles), you are probably wearing it wrong. The hard pump valve does take up more space and is not as gentle to the bony structure of your pelvis if compressed (even your testicles give a little). I suppose the greatest danger would be if a sudden pull on the harness (like a fall) pulled on the pump and stressed the tubing - loosening a connector. But if you position the straps well (and perhaps wear underwear that pre-positions the pump out of the way tightly and keeps it there) you can minimize the risk.
