Is having the implant WORSE than the injection route?

Postby Trav8701 » Sat Dec 11, 2021 12:29 pm

“If injections worked for me I would've totally just used those and been happy with them.”

This is a sentiment I’ve seen on this site so many times…it makes me wonder if the implant is actually a miserable experience. I say that because, to me, injection therapy is so off the table… I can’t imagine having to go through the pain of taking a needle every single time I want to have sex or make love… I understand that ED is the TRUE misery but personally I always imagined that the implant was more preferable than injection therapy…but is that really the case? How many of you would gladly swap out your implant in favor of injection therapy if it worked…and why?

No way in hell would I go back to injections. Completely, totally happy with my implant which works and stays hard as long as I want/need it to. 100% reliable, with no risks or side effects like with injections.
20 years of severe Peyronie's plaque, 90 curve, hinging and ED. Cost me 1.5" L and 1" G.
Implanted 2/18/21, AMS CX, 18 CM + 3 RTE, penoscrotal. Have gained 3/4". Gay, married, age 68.

I've been wondering this same thing myself!

Injections really do seem godawful. You can't have sex in the morning unless you're ready to go to work with an erection, you can't go to a girls place since they have to refrigerated, can't have sex on vacation, can't have sex more than once a day. You have to reveal your problems with ED every sexual companion since she will be wondering why you still have a hard on a couple of hours after the deed is done.

If you would rather deal with all of this and inject than have an implant then an Implant really has to be a truly terrible option!

This is what I always thought would be the preferred outlook on these forums but I keep seeing comments in agreeance with the expressed sentiment I pointed out and, while I personally still feel like I’d take the implant over injections any day of the week, it just BAFFLES me that there are people who can honestly look at a needle and say “yeah that seems right for me” but to each their own I guess?

Right?! I mean, I want it to be the case that the implant experience is a better one than the injection experience (yes I know it’s subjective) but the fact that I see that “if injections worked for me I’d be doing them” get thrown around so much like as if injections are default preferred over the implant it definitely worries me a little. Like, are the people who say this just trying to be politically correct or something? Help me to understand.

I didn't work when I started injections so a residual boner was never a problem.

I also experienced little to no pain and it helped to get a bit plumped with a low dose pill first.

In my case injections produced more girth than my implant and it always went down after orgasm.
It did come back after a bit though.

Everyone's experience is different though and they aren't for everyone.
86 years
Inject testosterone weekly.
Implant on 1/22/19 by Dr Avila.
Scrotal, hor. incision just over 1"
18cm AMS 700 CX, 3.5cm RTE 100cc res
Gleason 6 prostate cancer. Monitoring it for now.
Update: On my last biopsies the cancer wasn't found.
