Can men with implants still flex?

Postby NegativeEntropy » Sun Jan 16, 2022 3:17 pm

I’m strongly considering an implant but I’m very worried.

I am a quadriplegic. I am fortunate I still get boners (only reflex boners, never via thought/sight induced boners). I am able to orgasm and ejaculate with masturbation. The thing I’ve discovered is my orgasms are triggered by spasms in my penis. It’s difficult to explain. You know how you can flex your penis? Well when my glans are touched or my shaft is stimulated in certain ways it will cause that flexing. This response makes my penis harder and after stimulating for several minutes the “flex” response seems to cause an orgasm. I’m worried that if I get an implant this flexing response will be gone thus no more orgasms.

I barely have sensation in my penis since I’m paralyzed. I can tell when I’m hard and I can feel those flexes. That’s about it. It doesn’t feel pleasurable, just different. I can’t feel when I’m inside a woman. My boners are never rock hard even with medication. And I go soft after a minute or two unless I’m getting a LOT of stimulation (only a hand job can keep up). I think an implant would help my confidence knowing I can get a rock hard boner and keep it as long as I want. It’d be a shame to lose orgasm ability though.

Another question: Can men with implants still squeeze their urethra with fingers to stop the flow of urine? Due to my injury I have no bladder control and catheterize myself every 4-6 hours. It’s handy sometimes if I feel a bladder spasms coming on I can prevent leaking by manually squeezing the underside of my penis to close the urethra until I can get my catheter ready. Will I still be able to do this with an implant?

Hey bro.
I don’t have answers to your questions but I just wanted to let you know you are a great example of will to live.
Stay strong bro!

I can squeeze mine to stop flo hard or otherwise. If you don't have use of your arms i dont know how you would pump the bulb, sry, im not trying to be mean or anything, or have someone else pump for you. Have you tried the pill? Without my glans engorged, my sensation is lowered. I think this flex you are saying is when you feel excitement, its your penis trying to start an erection, just a thought.

There’s a lot of misconceptions with quadriplegia. I can move my arms. I can push my wheelchair. I can drive a car and transfer myself in/out of the car. I’m closer to a paraplegic than a quadriplegic. The reason I’m a quadriplegic is because my grip is affected. Squeezing the pump is a concern but I’m not too worried about that. I got an AMS demo pump from the doc. I don’t think that’ll be an issue.

The flexing is definitely not feeling excited. I remember being able to flex before my injury. As far as I can tell it’s flexing the kegals. Before my accident I could make my penis hard and make my penis move up and down by flexing. It’s the same thing post accident it’s just that now the flexing is in response to stimulation.

I personally think you'll be ok. But don't go on my opinion. My honest advice is to see if you can seek out a competent surgeon for your implant surgery that also has at least some knowledge of paralysis. Yes, that is a very specific doctor. Might not even be such around.
If that isn't possible. Make sure your implant doctor at least consults with a medical professional that is familiar with your specific conditions.
Going forward, I wish you the best of luck.
Oh, to your question. I've seen implanted men mention that they could kegal or some used the term "make my penis jump". By using the search function you might be able to zero in on those specific posts.

yes, you will be able to squeeze off your urethra. I have to urinary problems and do it frequently. actually easier as the 2 implant cylinders make your penis flat with urethra in the lower middle.

I asked the same question before my implant and I will say YES, you can still flex that baby. I had severe ED for 2 years, however, I could orgasm and the flex reflex was still there then and it actually moves now, since the implant. BUT remember, the implant pushes back almost parrallel to the rectum...so it can feel "crowded" around the area as something new is inside your body. After 5 weeks today....I am already use to it...

IMHO, which ever implant you get, you should be able to flex. By flex, I am thinking while your dick is in your pants (or out), you can flex it. Even flexing should be able to stop urine flow, if you want.

Yes, the bulb does concern me too. You mentioned that you are not concerned about that, so I am assuming that your grip is pretty strong:)!
Do you have anyone in your area that has an implant (3 piece) that you can see (show and tell)? Esp. on the pumping? Have you watched vids on Youtube on pumping so you get an idea of what you will be dealing with? All models are standing up, so you will have to adjust

Lastly, there is the option of a 1 piece. They are just rods you lift up to have sex, put down to put away. Unfortunately, it does not change length (think flexible neck desk lamp). This one drove me batty (and I know someone else that has this 1 piece that is driving him crazy too).

I am considered a quads well and the AMS pump is amazing. It took me a while to get use to it but has become easier. Fortunately, I have bigger nut sack for me to maneuver the pump to have a better grip. I am so glad I didn't get the 1 piece as the first doc wanted to place.

As far as flexing, I can still flex.
