I saw my urologist last week and although he had never done so before, he agreed to prescribe NitroBid 2% ointment for me after I explained the anecdotal accounts of my bionic brothers here on FrankTalk. BTW, Dr. Jonathan Beilan, MD in Largo, FL implanted my AMS CX and I can't say enough good things about him and his surgical skill.
My insurance paid for the NitroBid 2% oint with no issues. Since I had my IPP surgery this year, all my deductibles and out of pocket expenses were paid so my copay was $0.
Wearing surgical gloves, I applied a pea sized amount to the glans only. No burning or discomfort. The results were beyond amazing. Glans and penis engorged like I had used my VED and it lasted for a couple of hours. Downside was the classic nitroglycerin side effect of headache, even with that small amount of ointment.
I'm definitely going to try it again with a smaller amount of ointment. I will probably pre-treat myself with Tylenol or Advil to hopefully reduce or eliminate the headache.
For my Canadian bionic brothers, Nitrol (nitroglycerin) 2% ointment, the equivalent to Nitrobid 2% has been discontinued by the Canadian manufacturer. Rectiv (nitroglycerin) 0.4% ointment is still available in Canada but is approximately one-fourth the strength of the 2% ointment. Might be worth a try.
