Damn that's basically the price of the original procedure! So within 5 years after the first procedure, I should have enough to do it again :(

I was hoping half the price or at least something gets waived :(

$25,000 for out of pocket. If you have insurance then hopefully much much less than that.

Hakky and Karpman and Clavell are around $20k out of pocket right now, but 10 years from now that price will likely be higher, so I said $25,000

I'm not from the US and I've emailed both Eid and Hakki, they do not accept international insurance. It looks like if you're not an American citizen you're forced to pay out of pocket. Unless somebody on this forum knows of another way?

I think a better way to say your answer is. International insurance companies won't pay American medical claims. In the USA, agreements are made between the medical people & the insurance companies as to what procedures are covered & at what price. It would be highly unusual for an international company to have those agreements in place across the USA.

I met with Dr Wierschem at Texas urology at Baylor white med center last week. Wierschem offers the complete turn key surgery for $17,000 cash. The Titan is lifetime replacement from manufacturer, and he said the implant is close to $10,000. So would guess at this point it would be estimated at 7-8k. But like others said in 6-8 or 10 years it could easily be 25% higher.

My revision had a higher total bill than original (10 years of increased Healthcare costs).

Covered by insurance at Mayo. For those of you going private, have you entertained the idea of a health system like Mayo Clinic? Savings may off set travel.

Yes, it covered the surgeon, the anesthesiologist, and the operating room (not really a hospital).

Just to be clear on this. Did the $10,000 cover the hospital also?

What I have not seen mentioned is that the old device has to be removed for a revision (replacement). So extra work for the doctor, and extra time for the OR and anesthesia. And some doctors do not do this. Another thing to consider is infection. And the possibility of removal of the device and replaced with a malleable. Then later another attempt at IPP.

As far as warranty I have read that you pay for the new device and it is returned to the manufacturer and then if approved a refund is made. Some doctors or uro groups may not require this and deal with the manufacturer as part of a returning patient.

Best thing to do is ask your doctor when you talk to them about this. Of course things do change over time with prices and policy changes.

I'm 46 years old, means that if I get an implant I'll have to spend between $60,000 to $80,000 in my lifetime, is it worth it?
I had a trauma 2 years ago, caused me narrowing, dent and shortening. PRP injections three months ago=worse narrowing, and worse ED. Now I only have two choices: impotent or implant. Born in 1975, in a relationship with girlfriend fir 4 years

Maybe. At age 65 you'll have Medicare that will cover implants. In the years leading up to retirement you have time to research insurance that provides coverage. Changing jobs for suitable coverage is a valid strategy. I had a nephew that was type 1 diabetic. His insurance covered more per year in medical costs than the job actually paid him. You'd need to look at the bottom line of what your coverage is. Pick the best choice.

This is true. I live abroad, my know there are countless private international insurance companies covering treatment in every country --- except for the USA.

Why? USA medical cost often ten times cost of everywhere on the planet.
