Getting this done.
Getting this done.
Scheduled for June 1st with Dr. Clavell in Houston. Labs completed. Insurance verified. Hotel booked. Reside in San Antonio so considered a local patient; therefore, will drive to Houston, spend night in hotel and proceed to HCA in A.M. Scheduled as first procedure of the day so I can have several hours in hospital for observation prior to release and return to hotel. Don't anticipate any obstacles other than Houston area traffic. Looking forward to finally having some peace of mind with this ED issue. Rgds

Re: Getting this done.
I advise not driving yourself home. Get a driver and recline your seat fully.
You will probably be on pain medications which can impair reaction time, judgement, other things and make you drowsy.
Hitting a bump or pothole will likely be painful.
Sitting up for a long time lets blood pool in your lower body - not good for new incisions.
Evasive maneuvering, quick braking, etc will be problematic.
Good that you will spend at least one night in the local area. Overnight in hospital is best, especially if they leave a catheter in. Having someone else (medical professional) remove it is very convenient.

my son drove me home 110 miles the day after surgery. I had more pain meds at day 2 than later on. Ride was easy.

I agree with Lost Sheep. You definitely need someone to drive you unless it's been 8+ hours after the surgery. A person can suddenly nod off from the aftereffects of the anesthetic up to 8-10 hours later. You'll probably still be numb to feel much in your package, but it isn't going to be pain free either. It's not worth risking your new toy to a possible accident.
However, good luck on the surgery. Please be safe!

As far as I know, all hospitals and surgery centers require that you have a driver in order to be released. I left the hospital about 3 hours after surgery, and there was no way on earth I was awake or alert enough to drive. Good luck, it's all worth it!

Sorry. Should have provided more information. I will use Uber/Lyft to and from hospital. Reason earliest procedure time is recovery and release late in afternoon when I am discharged. Further, I will not checkout of hotel until latest possible time on June 2, which will definitely pass the 24 hour time frame following surgery. If I deem it necessary I will stay over an additional night. Yes this was discussed with the doctor. Rgds

NorCol,
Congratulations on making your decision on getting an implant. I see, you’re coming to Houston to see Dr Clavell, he did my revision and I can’t be happier. He is great guy, great as a surgeon and great as a man.
You are in good hands.
I am in Houston and if you want to talk, drop me a PM and will give you my phone number.

There is no way I could have sat upright in a car and drove - for at least a few days and probably for a week or two. My nut sack was huge and on fire. Had nothing to do with pain meds -- I didnt take any. it was all the discomfort from the surgery. I was fine laying down. but standing, walking or sitting was not fun for around 2 weeks.
59. ED from prostate removal surgery in 2018. Low doses of Trimix worked fine but usually gave a painful erection. Sildenafil - hit and miss but caused headaches for 8-12 hours. AMS-700CX 21 cm cylinder placed on 2-22-22.
