Cost of revision?

Postby densal07 » Sun Apr 24, 2022 4:26 pm

What was your cost of revision compared to the initial surgery? I heard something about implant's lifelong warranty. What for a change does it make between initial and revision surgery costs?
23yo gay male. Suspected venous leak. Currently on Viagra / Cialis, both certainly help but not confident enough to be a top. Let's see what the future brings - I'm here to face it.

I doubt that revisions are a predictable cost. There is too many variables involved. All the way from a splice in the tubing to a complete replacement.

Since it is hardly predictable, I would like to hear someone's experience. Someone who has gone through it. It would help to get a minimal idea at very least.

I got implanted 3 months ago, insurance only partially covered it. Facility fee for the hospital, which didn’t include the implant hardware or the surgeon’s fee, was $8k.

On one hand, I don’t expect this fee would be any less for a revision than an initial implant, and I don’t think a medical device warranty would cover it. On the other hand, I believe I’ve heard that insurance companies are better about covering revisions than they are at covering initial implants. I believe the thinking goes that it’s hard to prove that you’ve exhausted all options and that the implant is necessary to get an erection. Once you have the implant, it’s the only way you can achieve an erection, so if it breaks it is necessary to replace it.

Mid 30’s. ED since early 20’s. Pharmaceuticals were helpful initially, but stopped working. Implanted with Titan 22cm -.5cm (no RTEs) by Dr. Clavell 1/26/2022.

Who were your surgeons in all of your 3 procedures?

$68,000.00 for first implant - my co-pay was $1,500.00

Revision (failed after 2 years) - $105,000 - my copay was $3,100 - difficult surgery to correct issues caused by first surgeon.
AMS700 CX 21cm with 3 RTE 4-2019 by Dr Natale - failed 5-2021. Revision 6-2021 with issue (scrotal hematoma and infection). Dr. Ryan Terlecki revision 3-28-2022 (AMS700 CX 21cm with 1.5cm RTE). Cylinder failure at 18 months. 24cm AMS700 CX 11-29-2023.

Can you please also add the name of your surgeon(s)?

My original Dr. was Richard Natale of Charlotte / COncord NC. I will never go back to him and do not recommend.
