Well I've gotten over my fears and dithering and worrying about what might go wrong. From the moment I signed the papers consenting to the operation with my surgeon I've been calm and clear and ready to go for it. It took some real work on my part to get to be OK with this. As I've posted elsewhere I'm gay and could just be a bottom and not have intercourse anymore but I just don't want to be that limited in my sexuality. I've always been a versatile person with sex. I go all ways, tho only with guys now, tho I've been with women in the distant past. Now I'm totally excited and can hardly wait for this implant to happen and I wish time would move a bit quicker, but I expect I'll need the time to get all my ducks in a row.
I found out my hospital (Swedish in Seattle) offers some financial assistance and since I'm doing this on Medicare which only covers 80% that'd be helpful. I'm living on disability and have small income so will have to borrow the money but it's worth it to me to do it. Maybe I won't have to borrow so much. Now my chief concern is the fact that I'm on a huge dose of morphine every day for full body pain and I'm afraid the hospital is going to balk at giving me my full dose. I even had to fight the State to get it in fact so don't know how the hospital will work out. They can't give me much more opiates for the surgery pain or I'll OD potentially. Not a good scene so I'll probably have to deal with more pain than most. Oh well. I live with it daily so I'll be alright. My doc is going with the AMS CX because he's one of those who believes the LGX is prone to erosion of the tips, and I don't need that issue and I'm not a size queen and don't mind if I lose a little length if I have more girth and a good hardon. After all that's what it's about for me. I've dealt with my expectations and think I'm in a good place with them now so I'll be OK I suspect with whatever length I end up with. It's all in how you use it after all. SIze isn't everything...
So wish me luck and in a month and a 1/2 I'll join the Bionic Club and be able to start my recovery into a new life. I find it interesting that I'm scheduled for this implant on a new moon and a solar eclipse. It's a good time to start new things they say so I'm taking it as a good sign. Why not eh? Gotta go with the flow....
Thanks to all those who have helped me here on the board to get to where I am now. I've gotten some really good responses to my queries and I'm grateful to this place for being so open to all. I wish you all the best of luck with your trials and tribulations and triumphs!

Thanks for your support and good wishes, Gregg. I like your positivity as you demonstrated in your posting before your implant. I'm glad it's working well for you to heal so fast. I'm hoping I have similar good fortune. I tend to heal well and fast so I'm not too worried but things do happen so I'll be careful. I'm so excited now I can't stand it!
All the best to you with your own new implant,
Steve

Steve, Congrats on your courage to have the implant. As family, I am very interested in your progress up to and afterwards. I sent you an email to the addy you provided me recently. I have it marked on my calendar and hope to talk to you before then! Hugs--Jim

Jim, Thanks for your kind words of congratulations. I'm feeling pretty good about this now myself. Still a few doubts but that's to be expected I think. I appreciated your email and sent you a reply. You have good advice. As family I know we have some different issues to deal with and I really am thankful that there are so many open men on this forum who are both gay and straight who understand our concerns. Thanks for following my progress. I'll keep you posted on how things go. Only 3 weeks till I-Day... I'm psyched!
hugs back,
Steve

Steve, another family member wishing you every success.
I am sixty-six years of age and dealing with gradually worsening ED for twenty years. At sixty-three I wanted something that worked reliably. I got an AMS 700 LGX implant in 6/25/13. I am entirely pleased with the outcome. My surgeon was Dr. Karpman.
