Hello all,
Been away from the forums for a while because honestly... not exactly sure how I feel about my implant.
My main concern is just how superficial my implant tips feel. The left tip is much more superficial on the bottom of the shaft, and the right tip is much more superficial on the top of the shaft.
This picture demonstrates what I am talking about. There is very little "meat" covering the implant tips if that makes sense. The skin surrounding them feels very thin and weak, and I can feel the tips poking and pushing into this skin often, causing some mild irritation and discomfort. This discomfort occurs virtually every day tho, and it's constant reminder that I have an implant and that it might be at some risk.
Here are some pictures of the flaccid implant to give you an idea what I am talking about.
I've been to see a few implanters about this issue. Some have hand waved it away and insisted I was fine, others said that the placement was not ideal but that there was no pressing risk of erosion so nothing should be done... in the meantime I guess I am just left with the discomfort of these superficial tips poking into my skin and the psychological trouble that comes along with that, worrying that they might erode sometime soon... When inflated the tips sit within my glans, and everything feels good if the head of my penis is engorged. If it is not engorged, then the tips poke into my glans and cause discomfort then as well.
Is this normal? Is this just what implants are supposed to be like? Is it normal to have a cooked flaccid like I do? Am I at risk of erosion? What should be done about this?
I'm upset because curing my ED through the implant was miraculous, probably saved my life no joke, but now worrying about erosion and experiencing discomfort daily from my implant leaves me still upset with my penis. Feels like I just can't win.

Implant tips feel very superficial when deflated, causing irritation–what does this mean?
20 years old. Severe ED for the past 5 years due to scar tissue.
Tried shockwave therapy in Greece, and PRP shot from Dr. Goldstein in San Diego. Both with no results.
Implanted with a AMS LGX 18cm + 2 RTEs, performed by Dr. Edward Karpman - 10/8/2019

Hey bro,
First thing first, let me tell you that if many implant surgeons told you there’s not risk of erosion, there is no risk of erosion. So you should really worry about it.
The daily discomfort that you are going through btw is not good.. do you think different clothings may help you? I don’t know.. different underpants, different trousers..

26yo from Italy. Psychogenic ed since dec 2019, got worse in Jan 2021. On Cialis 5mg every 24hrs, it works! But masturbation and sex bring me a lot of anxiety. On talk-therapy.

I had this as bad or worse. Long story. I do not have a curviture but at the base my penis angles to the left the same direction of your curviture. like this \. I was straight before surgery. I also have a twist to my penis now. I improved some of this by pulling my glans off the cylinder tips and then pushing it back down in an improved location. I would partially inflate and do this and hold with one hand and finish inflating as much as I cound with the other. Then at the end use 2 hands to inflate to max stopping to adjust my glans on top of the cylinders.
Injections failed. Implanted 3-21-18 AMS 700 LGX 21 + 1 RTE 100 cc reservoir 6.5" L 5" G Dr. Kramer.

If the tips are well into the glans when inflated, that is good. That they do not stay in the glans is not so good. The LGX is designed to shorten in length upon deflation and lengthen upon inflation, but the tips staying in the glans is ideal (the glans and whole penis shortening when the LGX shortens).
If I were you (and knowing what little I know of your specific situation) I would inflate multiple times per day and pull the glans down on the implant tips to get them "seated" in your glans and try to get them to stay there (possibly with scar tissue adhesion). A talk with the AMS Patient Liaison (PL) would definitely be on my "to-do" list.
Note: 100% DEflation is also in order to the reservoir is not encapsulated with healing scar tissue, but spending the day partially inflated (just to the point where your implant tips are fully seated) might be beneficial. Talk to the PL.

Re: Implant tips feel very superficial when deflated, causing irritation–what does this mean?
Greetings my bionic brother I have read your post and feel I may have some idea that can help to put your mind at ease slightly. So I have this same issue my implant goes a little more further up my shaft when deflated but more or less the same situation arises where my right cylinder feels slightly more palpable such as you have described. I think (I’m not a Dr ) that this is absolutely normal well as normal as one can be with a bionic penis. You and all of us were used to the old penis feel and anything different from that is scary and worrisome . Look at it this way you have a mechanical device with a flesh covering over it that is basically what your penis is now give or take a few extra layers but you have a foreign body inside of your unit and just like you I have never felt a tip inside of my shaft (scary feeling). I have noticed when I placed my dick in my pants it hangs to the right therefore my left cylinder is always slightly further away from my head however if I straighten my penis out and grab the tips the will even out and line up. When I inflate both are even and in the glans and I couldn’t be happier with the performance and durability of my erections. A job more than well done by my surgeon. If you have gone to your doctor and others and they say it’s normal then ITS NORMAL!. There will be pains from time to time for a while so I have been told. As long as they aren’t persistent and overwhelming you should be fine. I always say consult with a Dr but you have with several it seems.
Blabbering aside short and sweet mine does the same thing it seems pretty dang normal. I hope maybe this eases your worry slightly. I get it it’s your dick we don’t want anything ever going wrong there however I feel based on both of our experiences you are just fine.

Re: Implant tips feel very superficial when deflated, causing irritation–what does this mean?
Hi guys, I haven't been on the site in a while. I have a similar problem, I feel too much at the tip of the cylinders and above all at the bottom of the glans, which causes me a very annoying rose, and I am also having problems urinating and I suspect that it may be due to that issue. Does anyone have experience with the latter? Thank you
I'm 43 years old. Probable implant date February 7, 2018 by Dr. Bechara, Argentina. Great surgeon Diagnosis Fuga Venosa more than 20 years ago. I am from Buenos Aires. Argentina.

Yes I have the same. I did get mine to improve some with the process I posted in my earlier post. I had other problems that made mine worse than the OP. My right cylinder actually crossed over the top of my urethra and the left was even lower and caused pain having sex. By holding the glans and directing the cylinder to the proper orientation while inflating it made a new path for the cylinders and let the old path way close. Difficult to do until you can pump up one handed. I did at time where it was not possible to pump one handed pull the glans forward and move the cylinder tips to a 3 and 9 position and push the glans back down. Then held my penis against my body to add a few pumps. Then I would repeat. Mine is still not perfect. Though it is a lot improved. The left cylinder that was low has improved a lot but my right cylinder is still pushing a bit on my urethra a bit and makes peeing standing up a bit of a challenge. It works now and I have little or no pain having sex.

Interesting... I may try this method, only thing I would worry about is causing damage to the head of my penis somehow or unwittingly putting myself at risk of erosion. How long following this type of regimen did it take for you to see improvement in your penis placement?

I hope you are right! I'm just bothered by having some discomfort and mild pain from the implant when there was never any before... I want to just be able to stop thinking about my penis and put my mind at ease but I feel as if I must regularly monitor it to avoid anything bad like erosion.

Thanks for the response Lost Sheep.
Yes my understanding was that the tips should stay in the glans when deflated but they do not seem to want to do that... it almost seems as if the head of my penis is too small to effectively cover the implant tips and so they are pushing out on opposite ends of my shaft... just hoping this doesn't lead to anything bad down the line.
I was not aware that the AMS Patient Liaison could be contacted about an issue like this, but I appreciate your recommendation and will definitely reach out to them soon. Hopefully I can adequately explain my situation and they can provide me with some advice at least.
