Cycling

Postby schmeb37 » Wed May 18, 2022 1:36 pm

I just started cycling last week and have noticed that after my penis is fully erect, I can still do full pumps endlessly, but I don't get harder. My Dr. said this is normal, but I've read many posts where the bulb gets rock hard after the penis can't accept more pumps. Does anyone have a take on this?

TIA

I will speculate that a pressure relief valve opens up. You pump fluid, but the valve (protecting the implant from overpressure) allows the fluid to flow back into the reservoir.

I have no data or fact sheet to support the existence of a pressure relief valve, but I have read in posts that some devices have them. What model implant do you have?

With my AMS pump I had a number of problems. I think it is just like buying a car in that sometimes you get a really good one and other times not so much. I think mine was a bit on the tight side and had to wear in to work properly. I would guess that the valve is not working properly. I can at times pump and the bulb gets hard. But after a while it will let me force pumps and pump forever. These forced pumps are different and more difficult to pump. Then most times I can pump until the pumps get really hard and so does my penis and I will wait for this to ease before I pump some more and at some point I get the bypass pumps. And then ever blue moon I will have difficult pumps from the beginning and it will take much longer to inflate and I will have more girth and less length. I have talked to one other member who has had that same experience.

The thing to do is to keep cycling and learn what how to make it work for you and then enjoy it. Many problems self correct. If it continues to be an issue call your AMS rep to report the problem.

Try this:

Estimate the amount of pressure it takes to put a dent in the pump bulb and then, mid-shaft, estimate the amount of pressure it takes to put the same depth dent in the side of your implant's shaft.

Are the two pressures about the same? If not the same, I opine there is a blockage or kink in your tubing or something of the sort. Worthy of examination before something blows out.

Just my speculation, so don't get alarmed. Just report back here, to the Patient Liaison and your surgeon.
