I am currently doubting between two surgeons. One is Dr Eid in NY and the other one is dr Clavell in Houston. Anybody had any good/bad experience with either of the surgeons?
It is a major decision and of course I want the best possible outcome. Any advice?
Dr Eid (NY) or Dr Clavell (Houston)?
Re: Dr Eid (NY) or Dr Clavell (Houston)?
I hope you're deciding between doctors, and not "doubting." ;^)
I was implanted by Dr. Eid in 2020, a couple of months before COVID first hit. As a man, Dr. Eid is one of the most dedicated and compassionate men I have ever met. He left no question I had go unanswered. His office staff are all very competent and helpful with insurance coverage, travel information and post-surgical care, and display the same level of compassion as their boss. The surgery resulted in minimal bruising and swelling, and the recovery was relatively easy. I was able to put my brand new implant to use 3 weeks post-surgery per doctor's advice, and have been very satisfied with my new superpower. I fully endorse Dr. Eid and consider him in the top tier of implant surgeons in the world. To be implanted by Dr. Eid was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
I have never had any dealings with Dr. Clavell, but I have heard that he is reportedly one of the best implant surgeons in the States.

Re: Dr Eid (NY) or Dr Clavell (Houston)?
My overall impression of both is positive but in different ways. From what I've read and heard about Dr. Eid, he is all about implants and tends to avoid the harder cases. He certainly promotes his low .47% infection rate and he's able to maintain that rate with straight forward and easy implant cases. However, after exchanging several emails he seems to be a Debby downer when it comes to complications. If you do get an infection... he will remove the implant and over the next six months while you heal you will lose 1-3 inches. He does not promote VED use. I do like Dr. Eid's use of a coating that makes your incision watertight and help prevent infection. Perhaps one of his patients can elaborate more. It is an extra step other surgeons don't take.
Dr Clavell is willing and eager to take on harder cases. Working on patients with severe Peyronies and other complications he's still only had 6 infections in a total of 600 implant surgeries. That's about 1% infection rate which is very respectable. He also told me that some of the infections were caused by the patient. (An unreported cut across the incision with a portable urinal, a diabetic not taking his antibiotics, etc...) If you do get an infection, Dr Clavell's attitude is all positive and he'll get you through it with minimal to no loss in size. He's also much younger and will be around to help with revisions down the road. Having the same surgeon throughout the years is a huge plus.
I think either doctor is a great choice. Although I'm kind of hung up on Dr. Eid sticking with easy cases and having a negative outlook if you do get an infection. I could be misinterpreting though. Maybe one of his patients can chime in.

Fifty-one years old. ED started at age forty. I took Cialis for eight years and used Trimix for almost three. Implanted 12/6/22 by Dr. Jonathan Clavell. AMS 700CX 21cm.

Timmy:
My first question to you would be where are you? What’s easier to get to….Houston or New York? If and when the stick an implant in you, who are you going to be able to see on short notice if, for no other reason, you need a pro to look at everything and tell you it’s normal?
There’s lots of guys who will disagree with me and that’s ok. Everyone’s entitled to an opinion. I ultimately chose a reasonably high volume implant guy in Austin because it was 60 miles to his office, just under an hour.
Now that I’ve had one implant, and know what to expect…..I might use my doc in Austin again or I would definitely consider Clavell. Houston is only 4 hours and my wife would be more than happy to go shopping while they ripped the old one out and installed a new one. I say this only because my Austin doc is more of an AMS guy and Clavell does both. My next implant, once I wear this one out, might need to be a Titan because I’m pretty much at the end of the road for what an LGX can do for me. By the same token I really have no desire to use anyone besides the Austin doctor because his work was outstanding. We will decide all that when this LGX quits on me and not before.
You used to hear Eid and Kramer. Then it became Eid and Hakky. The real truth is there are lots of very good surgeons who do outstanding work and one of them might be very close to where you live. There is a lot to be said for in person doctor consultation without the hassle of air travel. (Disclaimer: I own stock in Southwest Airlines Co. so if you do choose to fly to your doctor, please consider them)

Age 68. Physically fit educated red neck in Texas. Very married. 23 cm (18+5) of LGX installed by Dr. Bryan Kansas 12/31/2019. I fought the ED and my wife & I won. I’m either full of shit or sound advice. You decide which.
Re: Dr Eid (NY) or Dr Clavell (Houston)?
I would echo TangoGolf's experience with the master surgeon, Dr Eid -- might want to hurry before he retires...
75, used pills, injections -- all lost effectiveness. Titan implanted by Eid in Feb '22.
Re: Dr Eid (NY) or Dr Clavell (Houston)?
I like Dr Clavell. He is much younger and has very robust experience with very difficult cases. Check his videos at Clavell Uro on YouTube. He posted lots of them with very difficult and complicated cases either with virgin implant or revisions.
He is also very caring guy. He checks on his patients post operatively and always answers his emails and text messages. He is very easy to talk to with excellent bedside manners and most importantly always with positive attitude.
I am glad I choose him for my revision in 2020.
I can’t say anything but very best. He is an artist in his craft.

Re: Dr Eid (NY) or Dr Clavell (Houston)?
Dr. Clavell is an amazing Dr who is well experienced and knows what a man wants. Dr. Clavell listens to his patients and makes sure they understand the whole process. He has fantastic bedside manners and constantly checks up with his patients day or night.
