My UPDATE: 5 years 8 months after surgery
Here is the good news:
The implant works just as well as it did five years ago. No issues. Just inflate, use it, and deflate and enjoy life. Looking back on the last five years, they have been probably the best years of my life. Testosterone replacement therapy has elevated my mood, done amazing things for my energy and libido, and is a strong antidepressant with features of making me feel like a young superman capable of taking on anything. Couple that with a well functioning implant and the ability to have excellent long lasting sex anywhere and anytime, and you have a set of conditions that men dream of. So, yes, at 5 years 8 months, I remain a very happy bionic with no regrets about getting implanted.
Some thoughts about recent franktalk discussion points:
There was a comment a few weeks ago that a girlfriend is "no longer interested in giving blow-jobs." My take on this is that for many women, the blow job is part of the foreplay necessary to get her man rock hard and ready for sex. Since the rock hard part is now a guarantee, this level of foreplay is no longer needed, so the women figure they can skip that and just enjoy the penetration part. This appears to have happened in my home as well. And on a separate note, since my wife is getting older, she is starting to appreciate more and more the "adjustable hardness" of my implant. In the earlier part of this year, we have moved over to using the implant at a not maximum hardness. This is just easier on her.
My prostate cancer problem:
I was diagnosed with prostate cancer a few months ago. I made a tele-appointment with Dr Eid to discuss this (I of course happily paid for that appointment). He assured me that having the implant is fine in terms of going through the biopsy and robotic surgery for prostate cancer (just make sure your doctors take precautions to keep it from getting infected). He emphasized that if it looks like the surgeon might damage or contaminate the implant reservoir during surgery, then, the surgeon should just cut the tubing and remove the reservoir. It can be easily fixed later. Also, the complication of penile size decrease after robotic prostatectomy is not a problem for us bionics since the implant will keep us at our implanted size. And finally of course, having an implant in place means that we do not need to worry about impotence after prostate surgery or radiation. Dr Eid emphasized that he is an implant expert and not a prostate cancer expert; so, his comments were focused on issues of an implanted patient having surgery; and here the good news is that there are minimal issues. He was really interested and helpful to me. Dr Eid is truly one of the greats when it comes to caring and brilliant doctors; he was kind and empathetic and overall I felt better after just talking to him.
My local urologist, Dr Karpman, is of course well known for excellence here at franktalk and is extremely skilled and brilliant. He said to me: “you know, the thing that bothers guys most about prostate cancer is the erectile dysfunction, and you, as an implanted patient, are protected from that.”
Here is the bad news:
Because of the stage of my cancer, I am undergoing the route of Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT) and external beam radiation therapy (EBRT). The androgen deprivation is really hard to take. Essentially, this involves getting injections which block all testostorone. It is, in essence, a chemical castration (though the meds will wear off in 6 months). Now, in this zero testosterone state, I feel tired, listless, depressed; moreover, I have zero sex drive. No interest at all in sex. I have made it through half of radiation therapy, and when I ejaculate, it is just a few drops (apparently that is how it is in radaition or surgery—no substantial ejaculate volume). Prostate cancer sucks and it has ruined my sex life, at least for now.
My perspective and advice to you all:
We have heard many times that “nothing good happens while you wait” for an implant. and also that most of us wished we had “had the implant sooner.” Also, for the younger members here, remember “none of us can predict what is going to happen in the future nor can we foresee when we are going to die.” So, for me, the implant has been a god send and has worked great, but now, life circumstances have changed everything, and I aint using it no more. Hopefully once I am recovered from all this (timeframe is springtime), I will be back in the saddle. The take home message here is that life is unpredictable; we all focus on the late stage issues with the implant, but sometimes, it is the late stage issues with your life that can get in the way.

Great Job! This is more than a pamphlet. This should be edited in a book format that IPP manufacturers must publish and make available to EVERY potential Implant candidate. My Title suggestion "IPP and the Pursuit of Happiness" Patriotic sounding I know but "What to Expect when Ready to inflate" sounds too familiar.
My question is: Is there a similar pamphlet on the Financial aspect of the procedure for those whose insurance does not cover implant procedure?
Thank you, Thank YOU! Great work!
P.S. I just read the update and I am really sorry about the latest news. From here, I salute you and send you all my positive energy. I can only admire your strength and positive outlook ( I know you'll beat this whatchamacallit).

Tangerine,
Sorry to hear that you were diagnosed with prostate cancer and wish you a quick recovery. I know how that feels. Cancer is not a joke. Even if the implant stops, getting the prostate cancer treated is a priority.
All the best.

Karpman is my urologist too and, as I mentioned in another thread in response to the news of your prostate cancer (PCa), I was diagnosed w/low grade PCa (Gleason 6, PSA 4) long before I got ED, which I chose to treat w/CyberKnife (CK) stereotactic body radiation treatment (SBRT) which is a very precise form of external beam radiation treatment (EBRT) because it presented the lowest risk of ED, incontinence and collateral tissue damage presented by other methods of treatment.
I got my PCa diagnosis in Jan 2010 and was treated in Sep 2010.
Except for an early bump (which is common for EBRT treatment), my PSA level has dropped every year since and in the past 2 years it was 0.058/0.059 which was considered "undetectable" by most standards previously but still not "negligible" for recurrence by the current standard of 0.003 currently.
So, at least theoretically, my PCa could still recur 13 year after treatment but I've far surpassed the 5 yr survivability statistics since then and I'm pretty sure that whatever I die of later, I'm pretty sure that it won't be because of PCa
On the other hand, your PCa diagnosis must have been very severe to require ADT treatment in addtion to EBRT. Usually, ADT is only used post treatment for PCa by surgery or EBRT after a recurrance of the cancer.
I hope your PCa treatments do the job and kill your cancer effectively. Fortunately, as Dr K said, you've already got an IPP and don't have to worry about the ED that all too commonly follows treatment for PCa.
Good luck & best wishes for a fully recovery from your cancer and the side effects of your treatments.

I post the link to your article frequently with new members and their myriad issues. Your article was instrumental in my decision to implant. Because of you, i found the courage, so because of you and your work, i am a happier man.
Best wishes on a full recovery. You are a friend to us all.

7 year report and update:
1) overall:
my dick day was feb 7, 2017, so it has now been 7 years. I can emphatically say that I am delighted that I got the implant. Every single day, I am pleased with the decision and I really like being a studly male that can perform with magnificence for any female at anytime. I also like the look of my flacid. Its a nice girthy big cock, that looks just great. Strolling past the long length mirror naked is just a wonderful plus for me. Looking down at my cock in the shower is a very nice view. Electing to get an implant has been one of my best decisions in my life.
2) Wife’s opinion
She would rate our sex as very good. She states that “had I not gotten the implant, I probably would not have survived these last seven years” In other words, depression would have gotten the best of me, and an overall lack of zest for life as a once impotent man would have caused me to rot away. Now, I am confident, flirty, in great shape, and enjoy every day. Here is a story:
One day my wife decided to surprise me, at home, in the afternoon, by wearing a leopard dress and stillettos (she was trying to make up for being a bitch and for sex starving me). I walked in , found her like that, and fucked her, but really good, on the family room couch. It was aggressive and hot. The thing that made it especially meaningful, though, was my mindset before walking in. I had learned that my beloved step mom had fallen at her residential care and was being assessed at an emergency room (500 miles away from me), I learned that my MRI showed prostate cancer, and I was just coming home to decompress from all that horrible news. But, there was that hot pussy waiting for me. The beauty of the implant was that, even though I was in a very bad place mentally because of cancer and mom in hospital, I was able to pump to erect, pull myself together , and fuck like a champ. That would have never ever happened in my old days before implant. I am so thankful I was able to take advantage of her willingness to have sex that day.
3) Birthday sex:
I have had some great sex sessions on my birthdays. Long lasting with intense eye contact, and us facing each other while she rides, followed by me on top of her to go to orgasm. The beauty of the implant is that there is never a time clock when sex will end, I can relax and focus on her level of responsiveness. The implant is like a “magic dick.” That dick just will not go down until I tell it to.
4) Her sex drive:
well at age 62, she is no where near the sex driven person I would like. In general, she has sex with me out of mercy since she sees how miserable I get when we drop to once a month level (for us, once a week is maximum). I am unhappy about that, and the moral of the story is that your partner’s sex drive, once everything settles down around year two, will very likely return to where it was before the surgery. In other words, the implant will not miraculously turn her into a sex kitten who wants it frequently. That being said, because I have a 100% chance of success, I am able to be assertive in my wants and needs, and she just puts out as needed to keep the marriage going. This is of course, way better then what would have happened had i remained impotent, couples where the man can’t get it up, just give up on sex. The trauma of failing in bed, coupled with woman’s desire that is not very much, leads to a sexless marriage. So, for me, implant has been life changing and good for our marriage because I am so happy when having sex and because I am horny a fair amount, which means I try to be charming, and I bring flowers home. (there is a song about this, Neil Diamond/Barbara Streisand "you dont bring me flowers anymore" you all need to look it up and listen to the words)
5) vacations:
hotel sex is one of my favorites. after the implant surgery, I resumed planning fun trips for my wife and I , realizing that the “cherry on top” of a wonderful vacation day may meant fun sex. Occasionally, I feel like my vacation life with her is like a viagra/cialis commercial. Basically, before implant, planing a fun vacation to distant lands seemed pointless and lackluster; however, now, I love that chance to get out and adventure.
6) Prostate Cancer:
I got prostate cancer a couple years ago; this really brought me into depression since it forced me to face mortality and forced me to realize that I will have an expiration date. I opted to have radiation therapy to treat…in part because I was terrified of having the condition “climacturia” and also worried about having some urine leakage during sex (that would be a deal breaker for my wife in the sex act).. I got through the treatments fine, hopefully I have a 10 to 20 year cure. Dr Karpman said about prostate cancer an interesting insightful statement : “you know, the thing that bothers guys the most about prostate cancer is the erectile dysfunction. You, because of your implant, are protected from that.” So true, So true. Today, one year out of radiation treatment, it is almost as if nothing has happened. BUT, when I ejaculate, it is, at best , one drop (though the intensity of contractions and feelings of orgasm are nearly as good as before radiation). It is true that I now have almost zero underlying erection ability of my natural penis (because of the radiation) and also now zero glans erection (because of the radiation). But, that is OK, because I have a wonderful big implant (titan) that can support me in a way that works wonderfully for sex.
7) What do I miss about my old natural erections ?
When I used the trimix needle injection, the erection was both the shaft and the glans. That meant that it was really easy to penetrate because there is something about a hard glans which allows a penis to slip right in to the vagina. So, now with my lousy glans, either me or my wife needs to lead the penis in to the right angle so that I slip in. in other words, “hands free entry” is something that ended when my glans erection eventually went bad. Is this a big deal ? No. Being able to have penetrative sex is magic for both the man and the woman. Noting else compares. Everything else is fore play that prepares for the main act, which is the thrusting. Some men say that it is fine to please a woman without penetration (ie, using tongue, vibrators, fingers, etc). My answer: “bullshit, without the main act, the show is sub-standard”
8) How has it changed my mindset ?
I am 100% happier. I enjoy seeing hot sex scenes in movies (because I know I can do just as well), I devote time to my marriage. As I have said before, guys who have the chutzpah and balls and drive to undergo penile implant surgery are a special breed. They really like sex, and if you give long lasting, relaxed, consistent , and joyful sex performance to those type of guys, well, it is a truly beautiful thing.
So, hard to imagine, but I am just as happy that I had the implant at year 7 as I was at year two. And, yes, the thing works perfectly today. No issues, and it works just as well as it did at year two.
Cheers to you all, franktalk bionic brothers. My 7 year report is very very positive, and remember, "great things happen only when you really go for it"
