Considering an Implant

Guys,

I am a 71 year old married male that has experienced some ED for the past 30 years with it increasingly getting worse. I have gone through all the different pills and find a pump clumsy. I have had my first apt with my urologist to consider further treatments. After my first meeting, he gave me a months supply of the Cialis daily pills telling me at the time that they probably would not work if the others didn't. They didn't.

I have another meeting next week. My wife wants to go with me to ask questions about an implant. She is concerned about the risk of surgery. Other than a pace maker, I have not health problems. I actually take no prescription medicines except "peter pills". I did have some complications when I got the heart pacemaker once before with a gall bladder surgery. That causes her concern.

Can you guys give me some ideas of questions or conversations that I or my wife should have with the Doctor next week?

You are far from the first person to ask this question about questions. Browsing the implant forum, though time consuming, will help you a lot to formulate your own list of questions.

This is a major surgery. You will need to be off your feet for two weeks, and I mean flat as much as possible,sitting as little as possible to minimize complications.
Also, have your wife go to a GYN to have her vagina examined for atrophy. My wife and I did not have intercourse for 4 years, and the first time we tried, it was too painful for her. She is now on hormones and vaginal inserts to get her vagina in shape for sex. It may take another month for my wife to be ready.

Have icepacks, motrin and good support ready.

I had major edema in my scrotum for 3 weeks. Not all guys get what I had. It is now okay and all the swelling is down. Expect to lose some length, but you may gain in width.
Also, I had my surgery on April 9th. I did not have my first orgasm and ejaculation till last week when I was able to masturbate. It takes a while for the nerves to start working again. It is not an INSTANT fix.

There are some photos of what happened to me. Not all guys had edema as bad as me, but there will be some. Just take it a day at a time. Get your wife checked and ready to receive you. That may take some time and work with a gyn doc.

1. You already seem to have lots of questions. Read the posts from previous implantee's and ask your doc what you need to ask. It's your decision, our questions won't help you make up your mind. (My story is "LGX log"))

2. Flat on your back for 2 weeks, not me. Surgery Thursday, took it easy Friday and Saturday, went to church on Sunday, and back to work on Tuesday.

3. Edema, yea, I had it too, check out my story. Couldn't even find the pump for 3 weeks, so walked around 80% pumped just like I came out of surgery. Penis pointing straight up, jeans not buttoned with head under a very loose belt and my shirt covering the whole sordid affair. I was never so happy to have a limp dick as I was when I finally found the button and released it!

Every guy and every situation is different. All any of us can tell you is how we did. I'll happily talk to you on the phone, do a video over skype, or meet in person for a hands on demonstration if you wish. My wife will also talk with yours if she is interested. You have to be comfortable with your decision, that is all I can say. All we can do is offer support and relate our experiences. BTW, there are several guys who will do the personal demo, if you want to do that see if you can find someone near you.

As I've told many people before, go to one of the big three: Perito, Kramer, Eid. Right now they are the best 3 in the country. They are in Miami, Baltimore, New York City. Take a couple days trip to get it done right. TR

And as I have told persons before, you don't need to limit your search to the Big Three. Find a qualified uro in your area with a good reputation and plenty of experience. (Sometimes the implant manufacturers can make suggestions on their websites.) I had someone local who is not on the Big Three list and I couldn't be happier -- and didn't have to go through the expense and trouble of traveling to another area.
