I spent years looking for an ED solution. I developed ED following a stroke, from which I recovered and achieved good results with Viagra for several years, then it became ineffective and injections did not work. I was convinced I needed to get an implant, and my urologist agreed, but I just couldn't bring myself to face the surgery. Finally, after more years of frustration, I collected my courage and took the plunge. The procedure went off without a hitch and the results were excellent. But before I even healed I started experiencing some worrisome symptoms and was diagnosed with aortic stenosis, which untreated leads to death but can be corrected by aortic valve replacement. When diagnosed, the condition had not advanced to the stage where the surgeon would operate, or where insurance would pay. So I had the symptoms, but was not qualified to get them fixed yet.
To make a long story shorter, I felt so lousy that I wasn't much interested in sex - even so, we tried the implant twice, but it just didn't work for us (I can't lie on my back for more than a couple of minutes, and when I turn over in bed i get dizzy and very short of breath, which makes sex basically impossible).
The point being - if I'd gotten the implant when I first knew I needed it I would have had another 5 years of active sex life. I'm now slated to get the heart valve fixed in the next few weeks, but even if it's successful I'm not optimistic that we'll be able to turn the sex switch back on. We haven't had sex for years, and we're reaching the age when sex diminishes naturally (I'm 70 and my wife is not far behind).

The symptoms you describe are like The books definition of aortic stenosis. When you are lying om your back,, The blood of lower body parts goes To your heart , but it cant handle that blood because of The stenosis so it goes To The lungs provocating edema, that gives you that terrible feeling. It comes with mental issues like depressiion,, etc. with The valve you will be ok and you will recover your energy and your sex drive. Bad health issues kills sex drive in lots of cases, but as you recover it will come back.. Best wishes

Neisseria, thanks for the good wishes. I have a cath on July 15 and will get my referral to the surgeon the same day. When I meet with him the surgery date will be set. Kind of scary, but the promise of feeling much better helps me overcome the trepidation.
